Apart from places like the wilds of Scotland or the Shetlands, where
location obviously has an influence, then yes, you're right.[/QUOTE]

I'm stunned. I'll have to have another beer to get over the shock.

I got offered a brand new Blade for 8,000 OTR in Chiswick Honda today, I
said I'd think about it. On the way home I popped into Slocombes: 7,395
and it's in colour I like. He admitted it wouldn't make much different
to the price if I bought it in March/April either. He also said he
doesn't make money on finance so if they tell him it's 5%, that's what I
    get it for.

Hmmm... <rubs chin and looks around>

Indeed. He did seem keen to sell (CH) at that price. Perhaps the T plate
20,000 mile example with FSH and very clean is overpriced at 2,995

Why waste time with a blade when you can get a brand new (last years
    model) 10R for under £7k?

I know they're a bit fast and a bit lively but you don't have to ride
it flat out if it scares you.

If all goes well I'll be the owner of a 03 R1 on Saturday.

    Heh. I couldn't help it.

I got back to them, BTW. They only prep the bikes when a deposit has
been received and that prep takes about a week.

That's fair enough, they might want to trade it out and that means not
spending any money on it til it's sold.

He did say "we need to pull it out of the line-up", if that means the
    same thing.

    Oooh, it's exciting..)

I haven't bought it yet and how's my poor rat going to feel if I leave
    it at home?)

That's really what worries me about buying it now but by the time I get
it back from where it's at, the thing'll be filthy anyway.
How can it suck arse? It's all fucking plastic!

The price was right, btw[1] but I'll try and drill another hundred or
    two out of him.

[1] The clincher was that Auntie Carole only wanted and extra sixty six
quid to put it on my current insurance which runs out in July.

I think Yamaha's finish is streets ahead of what it used to be, and
judging by the old RDs I used to own it wasn't that bad if treated
right. It's still better than any Suzuki I have ever owned past or
present. I dare say my Thunderace was in similar conditon pre-damage to
that of my 9R when I bought it. The Ace had 40K miles, the 9R 25K, both
had been garaged. My Gixer sat outside in a seaside town for 2 years and
the only things to corrode were made in UK, but it just looks like it
could turn really nasty overnight if it felt like it.

    I can't comment on Hondas cos I don't buy soul-less shite.

****. 87.5% of my stable is Honda, but the Kwak is relegated to the
    cold shed ;-)

Watch out for the back wheel spinning up when exiting corners....

Only the 04 model does that, and even then only on Northern roads.

They all do it if you rip it open hard enough.

Are you having a neutral handling day? That's twice you've mentioned it
