When hubby finally gets round to changing that tap washer in the
kitchen, don't suggest that it would be a good idea to do every tap in
the house, "while the water's off".

On the hottest day of the year.

Why is the hot water stopcock in the loft?

    Why don't the undo easily?

    Still, they're all done now.

Ah! Beer. Don't mind if I do.

That's just female logic. Male logic would dictate do the minimum
amount of work possible and go through it all again when the next
    washer needs doing.
They all do that sir. that or the main cold inlet to the house shears
    off.

That was fun. Water board to the house to shut off the pavement
stopcock. That won't budge either. Cue digging up pavement to replace
    water board cock ...

BTDT, i nipped off to the local sewage works for one of those cock keys for
the road but. I was mega hungover, but I found one lying around & fucked off
    home quick.

The kitchen was a fucking mess.

S'ok, I asked them to leave a spare one out for you to pick up. Just buy me
    a beer sometime.

This is a BDSM thing, isn't it :)
I replaced mine before something got watery in the house. You never
know when you'll need to shut it off rapid pronto :)
