Ive been trying to find a pair of touring road boots for my missus. but she
has large calfs, and none that we have found will fit her.

shes a size 7-8 foot but 45cm calfs, which is about a size 14.

this has to be a common problem, anybody got any ideal's?

I eventually realised that no one made boots for people with small feet
    and large calves.

So I got them custom made by Medal Shoes And Boots in Melbourne.
they've been doing mail order boots time out of mind. Get 'em now
before the old boy pops his clogs!

$350 was what I paid 2 years ago.

Considering that people who have them say they last 15 years or more of
hard use, I think that's cheap!

Yep, still in business and the stuff is GOOD.
Seen many of them over the past 20 years and most are still going, unlike
    the antsy-pantsy brands.
of course no Goretex and the like but fairly water-resistant.

  6. Hi Nathan

Your other option, if she prefers to go off-the-shelf, is to find boots with
only half-zips and lots of velcro to complete the closure. Some of them do
fit the 'healthier' female leg. Sidi aren't too bad.

Most women I've spoken to avoid the specific women's boots - usually they
have a narrower foot fitting and the calves are the same as the men's boots.

ive tried a fair few on, a lot with half zips and velcro but they dont fit..

she use to do professional roller skating along with genetics, has left her
    with very strong calfs..

other options we have considered are the Rjays speed boot, which is only an
ankle boot for 120 bucks, not sure exacly what advantage these thigns have
    over an average sneeker...

but what we need is a lace up motorcycle boot, perhaps with some velcro to
    cover the laces...

ive dug up some old doc martins from her younger years and cleaned the mould
off them to use. just sick of her wearing sneekers when we go riding...

    cheers

Mad Biker is of the opinion:
Not sure whether they'd do, but my wife's got Rossi Senoras and swears by
them. She had problems getting calf-fitting boots, too, but I don't think
her calves are quite that big. She says they're the most comfortable shoes
she owns (although given the sorry state of women's footwear, I don't think
that's necessarily such a great claim).

Well, it's not ideal, but you could buy her a pair of size 14
boots and a couple of cans of that expanding foam! Custom-sized
    boots in a jiffy!

it seems to me, they need to bring back lace up boots, maybe with a velcro
    cover over the laces...
