Will Iraqis ever VOTE?

Discussion in 'Texas Bikers' started by ßjay jøhñ§øñ, Dec 6, 2004.

  1. Gunman ambushed a bus carrying unarmed Iraqis to work at a U.S. ammo
dump near Tikrit on Sunday, killing 17 and raising the toll from three
days of intensified and bloody insurgent attacks to at least 70 iraqi
    dead and dozens wouned.
<>The attacks appeared to be aimed at scaring off those who cooperate
with the American military--whether it be police, national guardsman,
Kurdish militia, or ordinary people. < (AP)>

(And to what?), Bush thinks those poor souls, will be able to vote, in a
    month.
The insurgents will make sure that never happens. Chasing them out of
Fulluja was like destroying an ant hill, and think you have got rid of
the ants, they just dig deeper, and move in another direction, and a few
million are digging again. There are so many of the guerilla fighters,
insurgents, or what ever ya wanna call them, in Iraq, that it will be
years before any kind of democracy happens. Those folks getting to vote,
    is absurd. I wanna be
hopeful, so maybe they can vote in 6 months, okay, 1 year. (grin)

I think that the vote will happen regardless of the insurgents.

Those who vote on that day are the ones that will determine who gets elected
in Iraq, not those who stay at home.

From what I have read, there are 18 provinces in Iraq, 14 of the 18 are
fairly quiet. It is the other 4 that are causing all the problems and
    getting all the media attention.

It could be said to be not any different than say Chicago or New York or any
other big city area in the US. The big cities are where most of the media
attention tends to be focused with regards to reporting on gangs, gang
    warfare and drugs.

Having the election could help to discourage the rebel killers.

I seem to remember some of the Confederates continuing to fight the Civil
War even after the South accepted defeat. I think that Quadrill's Raiders
    was one such group.

Good point about most of the voting provinces having been reported to be
fairly quite!!!!!BUT, the closer the elections, The bad guys, Ansar
al-Sunnah and his army of thugs and terrorist, know where and when to
terrorize the little old iraqi who might just try to vote. While most of
the US led troops and Iraqi security forces or busy still trying to
secure where the American and Iraqi officials, diplomats and even
private contractors are at in a Baghdad Compound. They call it the green
zone! ••Baghdad and Fullija, are still so volatile. I read this
morning, that heavily armed insurgents have been emboldened by a spate
of attacks ''across'' Iraq that have claimed more than 80 lives, mostly
Iraqi workers, the potential voters, ( I say!)
••I don't think there's much doubt, that the terrorist will do their
best, to discourage any of the folks getting out and stand in line to
vote.•• (and, their BEST, seems to be damn good) There had been
about 30 of our troops killed lately.
