Why would the lead biker face charges ?

Two riders tried to overtake a couple of cars, whilst the lead biker
made it, the second had a head on collision with on oncoming bike.

The paper says "it's understood the lead biker could face charges".

The Herald mentions that the second rider lost control of his bike
before taking out the unfortunate oncoming rider.

Can't quite understand why the lead biker would face charges, I presume
it's just artistic license by the journalist ?

he's the only one left alive to prosecute. Probably "Dangerous
Driving", based on the testimony of the car they were overtaking.

Was it safe for him to overtake? If he only just made it through , then it
doesn't sound like it so he coubd be charged with DWDCAA , or Dangerous
    Driving
    If not then it

  5. Uh? If he just made it through, it was safe - for him. If his mate was
daft enough to follow, well, that was *his* mistake.

May not change the fact that he was also riding like a twat and was just
    a bit luckier.

    Not really , no.
You can juggle chainsaws without incident , but that doesn't make it safe.

If that was the case then just about every biker I've seen recently
would have dangerous driving on their license.

I guess the second rider definitely was driving without due care and
attention. Sounds like the oncoming rider was too.
    ^^^^^ what ?

Or maybe one of the riders was on the wrong side of the road? Seems like
rider number 2 was riding beyond his capabilites and ran into the poor
fucker coming the other way on his own side of the road.

  11. Sounds like!? He went for a gap that turned out not to be there, he
most definitely was beyond his capabilities.

Easy to get sucked in though if you are not paying attention. I don't
like to do it unless I have been on the throttle for a moment or two
before the lead bike has and if I can't do that I don't follow the move.

It was in response to the statement about the oncoming rider driving/riding
without due car and attenetion. I'd say no amount of attention would've
    helped in in the circumstances.
My pal did exactly the same thing (following a bloody fast rider he knows)
but in his case, the only damage was to his Mille's Acrapovich race system
and his pride, but it was luck, not good management that let him walk away
    from it.
