why would my '93' start leaking tranny fluid all of a sudden?

Had my '93' FLH painted last week and last night put it back together and
rode maybe 30 miles and everything was smooth as silk. Parked it and came
out this morning and every drop of tranny fluid was gone and on the
driveway. Went to the local Stealer and he said what probably happened was
this. He thinks the main drive gear in the tranny is bad and is wobbly that
it finally caused the seal to go bad. He hasn't listened to, rode or
anything else but made this diagnosis off the cuff. Does this sound
possible? Is there anything (liquid sealer) that can swell up the seal and
keep the scoot from leaking like that. The local stealer said about $600.00
to fix it. How much would a replacement tranny cost? How much for a 6 speed
tranny? Any help would be so much appreciated.

    Thanks

In 94 they updated the pulley, spacer, and the seal to fix the problem.
What has probably happened is the pulley wobbled and sheared off the lock
screw, that allows the pulley retaining nut to back off. If the bike is run
too far with the pulley loose it eats up the output shaft spline
necessitating the replacement of 5th gear as well as the new style pulley
kit. This means the trans will have to be removed from the case to replace
5th gear. (Can be done in the frame...)

Note: Anyone with a pre 94 belt drive 5 speed update your sprocket NOW, or
    pay the piper.

Drinks on me, I already paid the piper.
