why is life so complicated?

  1. So I've just downloaded "From Hell", as it's been recommended by several
people, so I figured there'd be no waste to d/l overnight and it'll keep
me in from the cold for an extra hour or so this weekend.

So it's in and fine and dandy, but no effing audio coming through.
So I go to Divx and get latest codecs. Still no effing audio. So I go to
Microshaft and get their latest codecs. Still no effing audio. So I
download Nimo 9 and it won't install.

So I think fuckit, it's only 670 odd megs, I'll chuck it on a cd and
watch it in the dvd player and telly. But oh no, Nero think's it's going
to be in excess of 750 megs to burn. (Some sort of uncompression
    presumeably?).

    So what the **** now?

Just burn it to DVD. Nerovision will do a nice job of setting it up
    properly in DVD format.

Due to the limitations of current email, the lip movements may be
out of synchronisation as you move your finger under the text while reading.

if none of the otrher suggestions work, tmpgenc will allow you to
split the video into two parts. Takes a while though (bout half real
time in my Athlon 2200 XP)

I suspect that that won't solve the issue though. You could just rip
the first couple of minutes, bang that on a CDR and see.

A handy little utility that looks into a file and tells you what you
need to watch and listen to that file, if you need a codec or two it
can also help you find them.

Search for a free proggie called gspot (seriously). Open file, it tells you
    the codecs required.

If it needs reducing to fit on a CD, go to www.divx.com and download the
free 15 day trial version of "Dr Divx" which will let you easily resize
files without having a clue WTF you are doing :)
