why i failed "insurance 101"

  1. CASE STUDY:

you have a small bump in with a cage on the road 6-8 months ago, fill
in a claim form (because the other party's insurance company sent you
a nice letter) and never hear from your insurance company again about
    the issue

    QUESTION:

Does your insurance company not contact you because

    a) YOU are suppose to follow them up about whats happening?
    b) They are still in the process of deciding fault
    c) They're bastards who enjoy watching a kid flounder around wondering
wtf is happening. (but then again.. who doesn't)
    d) none of the above
    e) all of the above

    cheers

This was a claim against your third party insurance policy for an accident
which was your fault? In that case it's probably normal for them to deal with
everything on your behalf after you send off the claim forms and never hear
    from them again.

  3. oh okay, but it wasn't my fault (or that's what i think) and thats
what i put in my claim. (or is it a counter-claim?)

I made a not at fault claim[1] andforgot about it for 3 months. then decided to chase it up.
to my delight it had been approved and had been sitting in someones inbox for god knows
how long, and by calling up i got them to rustle about and find it. a fortnight later i had a $950
    cheque in my hand.

So in short, chase it the hell up.

[1] The fuckwit was DUI and thusly all insurance was null & void. In the process he had written
his 99 magna off, a *NEW* import skyline and a 2001 commodore off, meanwhile i had just
gotten a bumped front left panel and a broken indicator),

Your insurance company will have a phone number. Why not do the unorthodox
and take them by surprise by ringing them?

  7. haha yeah i chased hem up and it turns out that mine was also
approved, so now my bank a/c is 950 up as well. woohooo. maybe the
insurers just to this on purpose to keep more money in their pockets
to invest and earn interest and what-not until someone decides to ask
for it back. or maybe i've been doing to much finance crap at uni. but
probbaly i'm just balbering too much. =)

    cheers
