Why are some eBayers so dumb?

Still undecided - although the more I look, the more I'm convinced Andy
    is right.

The tail-lights certainly look pretty accurate, and therefore, it would
have to be as wide as the real thing to keep the rear end in proportion.

However, and I think this is a bit of a giveaway, the exhaust looks like
a couple of universal Peco / Supersprint silencers slung under the tail.
For a start, I doubt anyone owning a real one would use such obviously
poor silencers, but they also seem to exit the car in the wrong place.

A real one has, ISTR, has a twin pipe can either side - pushed further
out than the ones in the pic appear to be.

    Heh, cool.

I had, circa 1986, a 1972 Hillman Hunter GT which had been, *cough*,
    breathed on...

1725 Holbay engine with chromed Rostyle 4-spokes
    Overdrive gearbox
    Peco rallye exhaust
    Peter Lloyd Springs
    Bilstein shocks
    Sparco bucket seats
    Willans four-point harness
    Hand-fabricated 6-point cage.

Bought more or less as listed above for £500.

Ged, I wished I'd hung onto it...
    :-(

A mate of mine during the heady days of the late 80s had a fake Lambo
500S. It was absoultely convincing until he started it up; it was Rover
    V8 powered.
You can tell that from that ickle pic? I'm not convinced one way or
    t'other.

The Lambo's zorst was notorious for rot and, whilst you can still get them
from the factory, they're stupidly expensive.

Larini do reasonably priced replacement zorsts for many supercars...

And this guy, he's got the right idea...

Like I said, I can't tell from the eBay pics, but a real one can be seen,
    above.

  14. Looking at the cars up there, and then odgen's comment, and,
more significantly, watching Bullitt for the first time last
week, has made me realise that I actually quite like the
    big US muscle cars.

I think it's the same thing as liking the more "sensible"
streetfighters; an impression of raw power.

So do I, but mine has to be a FHC in light metallic blue, and it has to
    be a 1964/65 model 4.2 with a black interior. I wouldn't want a 3.8 flat
floor with external bonnet locks, like that one, cos they are a bitch to
get some parts for, and even more prone to rust than later ones. Plus,
the gearchange is fucking awful on the Moss box used in the 3.8 variant.
Last time I drove a 3.8 E-Type, I smashed my knuckles on the dash
mounted switches when changing into 3rd. The 4.2 is a smoother engine
    too.
