Has anyone here ever been hit by an uninsured driver?
If so how long has it taken to claim the repair costs from the MIB?

  2. were you fully comp or third party , if your fully comp then your own
insurance company will deal with it
third party then mib handle it , they can take up to and above 12 months ,
it largely depends on what happened how it happened
witness statements , whose fault etc

If its a case of the uninsured running into you from the rear clear cut not
your fault then about 3 months

if its partly your own fault then you may receive nothing , you will not
receive all of the cost of repair anyway

was the incident logged by the police was the other driver prosecuted , if
so get copies and forward them on to mib

I wasn't hit by an uninsured driver, instead they pulled out on me on a
roundabout causing me to veer to miss them and ended up writing the bike
off on the reservation between the exit and the entrance. The driver
didn't stop and I had to rely on another biker to get the rego, I
reported it and it took nearly 2.5 years to get compensation sorted out
after it was apparent the twat wasn't insured and I had to go throught
    the MIB.

My brother T-boned an uninsured driver when they turned right across his
path and then stopped in his path, he broke his right wrist, left ankle
and damaged his eye, wrote off his bike and her car and has been waiting
for over a year to get anywhere, his lawyer has had to threaten court
action to get anywhere. The stupid bitch is still driving which is the
    most galling part.

So in answer to your question, about 2 years.

  4. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember (Snoochie)
    saying something like:
A mate of mine had his bike written off by an uninsured driver and the
whole thing had to go through the MIB. She (the driver) had tried to
claim her husband's policy covered her, but it wasn't so. As Martian
said, 2 years is about the time it took.

us all completely to death with wittery prose along the lines of:

I was [1]. My InsCo (I think it was Mitchell and Partners) were fsking
useless. It took me ages to get anywhere and eventually, after 5
months, I got in touch with RSS, who sorted it out in a month (and
also got me £400(ish) extra for my knee injury.)

[1] Daddy letting his little girl drive, shortly after passing her
test. He didn't realise she was uninsured.

I could be wrong but they only pay out for personal injury as well don't
they, not for repair/replacement of property. I got knocked off my MTB
by a hit & run and got £1500 in personal injuries but had to spend a
fair chunk of that replacing my written off bike.

Takes a while as well ISTR it was about 8 months, including a couple of
trips to Harley St for assement of how badly injured I really was. Mind
you a good solicitor (RSS) would probably sort it quicker.

They pay for damage if you know who did it(I aasume because then they can
claim it back off the person), but only for injuries in a hit and run.....

Took me the best part of a year after some dick on an NS125 walked his bike
across the A52 infront of me[1] on my first NS400....

    Dave

{1] He turned 17 the day before and was in the pre-CBT days so he had no
idea what to do. He stalled it so, being a sensible teenager, thought it
best to wheel *across* the carriageway to the central reservation than the 3
foot to the kerb.... If I hadn't braked I'd have shot straight past him,
but I tried to stop and hit him. as he was totally blocking lane 3 by the
time I got to him. Like I said, if I'd stayed at a steady speed I'd have
just sailed past (whilst probably scaring the shit out of him....)

Oh, took ages, byt I got everything paid out. Helmet, clothes, bike
    <fx: sob> and injuries [1].

[1] I'd called my mate to pick me up from St Thomas's and the berk
arrived on bike. Oh what fun it was, being transported back home, with
a pair of crutches dangling by my side. :)

The bastard drove into my path, sending me over the bars into the road
and somehow managing to end up with a leg under my rear wheel. First
thing he said was "what've you done to my car.." - the cheeky c*nt!

My witness gave a statement to the police (who were 'round the corner
at the time, handy that) confirming my version of events. Shouldn't
    that count for something?

The paramedics turned up not long after the police and carted me off
to hospital... the WORST one in the area. Every time you go in it's a
gamble as to what level of treatment you get; this time I got stuck
with a "doctor" who showed no interest in what I had to say (or the
small matter of not being able to stand unaided) and sent me packing
with tubigrip and paracetemol (neither of which helped). The tightarse
could've at least loaned me a crutch, instead of having to improvise
with my weightlifting bars and rolled up clothing...

**** you, what is the damage to the bike?

I have a crutch you can have. A genuine for the use of NHS cancer
patients it is, with provenance and everything
