The indicators are NOS MZ originals. The unshrouded chrome shocks are no
longer available and the striping was the previous owners idea of tarting it
    up.
I took it over the cat and fiddle from St Helens to Sheffield last weekend
and it never missed a beat.

    NEXT QUESTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, but when the previous owner has "had a go" you only have two choices.
Find new ones (unpolished, which I have in the shed) or re-polish them
properly. Where do you draw the line at original and contemporary ?

We can agree to differ then. I have both options available. It never left
the factory with polished alloy rims, but at least I have a good starting
place from which to keep them reasonable.
    Cheers

Sorry given that it's only been back on the road for a few weeks, I thought
a trip to Zschopau was a little out of the ordinary. If I had known a
restoration genius would have been offended, then I would have made the
    effort !

Yes the same size and colour as the original.

I never realised there was a Saturday night spelling test. I apologise.

I assume you can also point out the other errors in the restoration that are
obvious to someone with such an in-depth knowledge of MZ motorcycles.

    Away you go................

The bar-end indicators are a bit hom, as are the chrome shocks. And the
striping seems to have gone astray somewhere. Aside from that, very clean
and nicely tarted up. Do many miles on it?

  10. Nice. But it's not really 'restored' is it? To restore something you
put it back to original condition. You've not mananged to do that -
MZ's never had shiney crankcases out of the factory.

Time to take the advice of Tony Benn's grandfather.

  12. It's easy - to me restored means as the factory produced that one. I'm
not detracting from what you've done - it looks cracking.

So you just junked the original shocks and bought new shiny things to
    replace them? Hmm...
Wow. Not exactly four countries in a day, though.
Is that a modern yellow numberplate?

  14. I don't think we can do that on Usenet.
You have built a monster... It's nothing like the MZ you could have
    bought from a showroom.

No, I bought MZ ES 150 shocks from a previous release. A common alternative
throughout the life of the bike. ie contemporary.
No, I have the original and it's all plastic, not alloy.
Yes the numbers are stick on. No, I can't really be concerned about it. No
more than I can be between the none standard primer, Ford and Peugot top
coats that were the best match to the originals or the heat shrink and
bullet connectors that have been used.

  16. Stop beating yourself up about it and get out there and roughen up
    those castings back to original.
    I don't know - I'm never offensive.
