Yeah, I hit the same plague coming back from the Redgum Rally.

Sore knees, sore knuckles, and we had to stop regularly to clean
    bug guts off visors.

Once I got home I found bugs in my boots, in the space under the seat
of the Infamous MZ, and about 2 weeks later half a bug *inside* the
    headlight bucket...

The same stuff as now. The survivors bred.

I went through a plague in South NSW Vic in 74/5 in the car. Every
servo had a big pile of bugs where people cleaned their grilles and
    radiators.
Still preferable to picking emu feathers from the fins six months
    later.

We had a guy from Paddy Palin come to a Guzzi Club meeting in the
early eighties and he bought a "Whiz" with him. A couple of the girls
bought one. So new they're not.

  7. A few years ago a bunch of us from Bathurst were riding near Wellington
and ran into the locust plague that was traveling south from Dubbo. We
had just spent a several winding kilometers sitting behind a truck with
horse float and nowhere to pass. We got around at last and left him
behind. Within minutes we were out from the hills and onto the flat. We
hit the locusts. It was like riding through rocks and only one bike had
a full fairing. Nobody could take it above about 70-80ks, and suddenly
there was a truck with horse float up our hammer trying to get past.

I got the bike jacket out on friday (new bike after several months
without) and today my wife looked at it and said, "You've got a lot of
bugs stuck on there." Three year old leftovers.
