Having just googled, you're right too. 1760mm as opposed to 1840mm,
that's about 3 1/2 inches narrower. I shall proceed to take the piss
    asap.

Fair enough. Having used an independent when I had the Alfa 75 2.5 V6
    Cloverleaf I can believe that.

  6. Honest John reckons that V-Power is better than Optimax, but I can't say
I've compared it. The Tesco stuff looks very interesting indeed, I shall try
    it. Thanks!

The wife had one for about 6 months, not the best car, too much power
through the front wheels & not very comfotable.

Get a WRX, best all rounder going.

Both my blue and my green Impreza Sports had gold[1] 17" Speedline
    alloys.

[1] Same set of wheels transferred from car to car along with the full
Turbo leather interior, quickshift gearchange and Prodrive bodykit. They
ended up painted satin black for the red car.

  13. I 'ate Ikea. Yes, the stuff can look nice, but shopping there is a bloody
nightmare. Apparently, the new ILVA place at Lakeside is far better.
    Best selling line, apparently.

  14. I've got three of their pine cupboard and shelving combos. About twenty
years old, iirc. We used our own fittings and extra glue, and they've lasted
very well. They weren't particularly cheap, but they were well made. I tend
to go for auctions these days.
I've never yet found one for ours - Brent Park, that is. Have they improved
the delivery arrangements? I know they are planning on line shopping, which
    might tempt me.

I think the stuuf is pretty god vfm for general furntiture needs.

And it's usually OK if you
    a) go outside peak times - mid-week evenings aren't too bad, weekends a
    complete no-no, and
    b) know what you want, go directly to pick it up and leave. Browsing
in Ikea is a bloody stupid thing to attempt.
It would have to be a helluva lot better for me to go right past Brent
Park and all the way to Lakeside.

You transferred the interior when you changed cars?! I know you were a
trimmer but surely that's a tad excessive, or even obsessive.

Swopping an interior doesn't take long when you do it day in day out. I
can have a BMW 5 series completely stripped out, seats, door panels and
centre console lid, in around half an hour and all back into the car in
    about 45 minutes.

When I worked for that firm we changed cars every 3 months or 10K miles
so we could keep good residuals on the cars, which were two Turbos and
two Sports. The Sport models didn't have very nice seats, so I acquired
some Turbo ones and had them trimmed by our workshop in leather to my
design. Every time we got new cars we'd have a few days overlap where
those with company cars would have two Imprezas each, and in that time
I'd have to swop all the goodies from my old car to my new car. This
included getting the seats retrimmed in leather to suit the car's
colour, swopping the bodykits/Turbo bonnet over after having them
repainted to suit the new car's colour, swopping the gearshift
quickchange and swopping wheels over. The repainting was at my own cost,
but a mate with a bodyshop used to do it on the cheap for me, usually
    about £200 all in.

Mind you, when the new owners came to view our cars, mine with the
highest mileage always had an immaculate cloth interior, bonnet with no
stone chips and brand new tyres on unmarked standard alloys. We used to
sell our company Imprezas privately for more than we'd paid for them
despite the mileage, because we bought them on a trade deal direct from
the importers[2]. My Sports actually looked more blinged-up than my
bosses' genuine Turbos, they had 16" wheels and standard bodykits.

When I left the company I removed all the
interior/goodies/wheels/bodykit from my car and sold them all privately
to the new owner of it after about 4 months. I made a tidy profit after
    covering the cost of repainting.

[1] Along with some Prodrive goodies, 17" Speedlines with new tyres and
a full Prodrive bodykit (via the back door) from the nice boys at
Banbury in payment for a major favour I'd done them.
[2] The company I worked for were supplier of all aftermarket leather
trim to International Motors[3] dealer network.
[3] The then Subaru and Isuzu importers.
