Of course anyone would be mad not to buy something that "eats any 250". Not
exactly the brightest thing to say. A good sign this kid has thrashed it if
    the photos weren't sign enough.

  5. this is actually true by the RTA.. they classify the bike as the yr it was
complianced - was the reason my 1990, 2001 import never ever needed a pink
    slip :)

The RTA can do what they like... an 1990 model is a 1990 model... forever.

yeh just try and buy parts for a 98 model and wonder why they wont fit

    unless its a GPX250 ;)

So at $800 at the moment, and $1000 for forks, $300 for rim, it would
    be cheap?

  9. "this bike has absolutely eaten any 250"

Obviously this bloke has never seen a _REAL_ CBR250RR, or ZXR250C, or, for
    that matter, NSR250, KR1S250, TZR250, RGV250, RS250.

"extent of damage is not as bad as it looks"

    Yeah, right.

"approximate quote for repair 1500 including forks, fairings, rim, bars,
    indicators and tank"

Approximate, as in 1500 for the fairing, 1500 for the forks and rims, and a
third 1500 for the bars, indicators, and tank.

    Well...

Based on my last experience of rebuilding a front-ender[1] I'd say
that you should estimate the repair cost, double it, then pay wrecking
prices for the bike and pull it to bits.

If you managed to buy that one for $800 I reckon you'd turn a profit
by wrecking it. I mean, you'd probable get $200 for the compliance
    plate alone! ;-)

  13. On the other hand, if you're into the big knuckle-dragging battleships of
    yesteryear,

    625

this could be construed as something of a bargain.
(at 223kg dry, it's far from my idea of what a sportsbike should be, though)

  14. Perimeter frame, sidedraught carbs, twin exhausts... It's an 80's bike in
all but compliance plate... the only sportbike I ever rode that I wished had
    power steering...

    223kg? Pfft - it's a flyweight! My CBR1000F is about 235kg dry. ;-)

    And a 1996 GSXR1100 is a "knuckle-dragging battleship of yesteryear"?
Good job I'm not buying those 1990s bikes then! ;-)

  16. Weight aside, that does seem to be a pretty good price for a '95 Gixer 11.

Anyone want to have a look at it for me? (Not that her upstairs is likely to
    let me get _another_ bike.)

    ROFL.

I wonder what his reserve is. Redbook reckons that the 91 model of that
bike (not grey import) is around $4,000, and similer for the 98 model
    grey import.

Probably give 'im freefifty anna something else. What was it now...
