which tyres?

Lydden Hill has a really strange surface. Having helped out at a few
bike track days and Porsche 924 races, general opinion is that any tyre
gets fucked in short order there, but no-one seems to rate the grip
qualities of the tarmac. Bikes and cars were going off in all directions
whenever I've been there, with greater regularity than any other circuit
    I've been to.

Getting D208's fitted tomorrow. Probably the only tyre that's not been
recommended on here. For £180 supplied & fitted to bike rather than loose
wheels it's a decent deal. Must be better than the super corsas (for the
    conditions) I'm running just now.

I s'pose if I don't try different tyres (never had dunlops) I'll never know.
At least I should be able to take roundabouts in the wet now without
    shitting myself :)
I'm a bit fanatical about tyre pressures anyway so always got them bang on
    so hopefully not an issue.

People who don't use D207RRs seem to use Pirelli of one
Had pirelli's on my old VTR when I bought it and couldn't get on with them
at all (Dragon Evo's or something like that). Felt brilliant with the 010's
    I replaced them with.
Think it's 012 or 014 now.. not sure mind.

    Weirdly, though,
Weird as you say. Did notice that and after scouring the classified's I only
found a couple for sale with bridgestones on them.
Might opt for the 190 on the rear then. A lot of my riding is two up or fast
motorway / DC commuting so stability over fast turn in is probably a good
    trade off.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

Twins do seem to shag tyres in a different manner to fours. My Firestorm
couldn't make a rear D207RR last any longer than 2,500 miles, yet my
Thunderace had a pair on for 4,000 miles and they still had a fair bit
of tread left when I sold it.

Fucking Ada. You'd be financially better off by buying online or from
eBay and taking a ride down to Carlisle with the tyres strapped to the
back seat and getting them fitted there at a fraction of the cost.

Some Scottish dealers are robbing cunts.

In the past 3 years Aprilia UK have recommended Putoline Oil, Motorex
Oil and now Agip Oil. The guy who deals with oil contracts for Aprilia
is a very good friend of a bloke who has worked in top positions for
Putoline and Motorex and he now owns the Agip franchise. As soon as this
bloke changes oil company, Aprilia change their recommended oil
    supplier.

I wouldn't take the blindest bit of notice of what aftermarket products
Aprilia UK recommend. Maybe someone at Aprilia isn't getting enough of a
'bottle of plonk' from the Bridgestone rep at Christmas to make it
    worthwhile recommending their tyres.

You're not wrong. Looking through MCN at some of the prices down south just
about made me sick this morning. Roll in/out for £180 odd for just about any
tyre I could think off. The only tyres I could get for under £200 a set
without even thinking about fitting was the 207/208's. Good price on them
right enough (i think) at £180 odd s&f.

Majority are. £65 an hour for labour of which a mechanic gets maybe £7/£8.
Christ it's probably a YTS'er (or whatever they are called these days) that
fits the tyres anyway. Realise dealers have to make but they really do rip
    the piss out of it.

well, "Shit yourself thin" has been on the back-burner for a while.

But no, ginge's notion has helped crystallise a short-story idea I've
been mulling over for a little while.

I guess it must have been the road conditions and weather that killed
the 010s on my SV then. One day it was 90F+ and I did about 30 miles on
the freeway. I found bits of rubber all over the swingarm and subframe.
