I'm talking about people who make decisions based on what makes them feel macho. As opposed to them
making their decisions based on what they feel safe or confortable with, leaving the macho factor
either out, or as a very small or last consideration..

Whether other people view me or anyone else as macho for doing this or that, or wearing more or
less, is neither here nor there to me. :)

    Thanks for the advice John,

She is not much smaller than me, so I might get the 954 and suggest
that she buys a trailer for it. *smile*
I prefer 4 cyl injected to vee twin with carbs.

The 954 is a full on sports bike miles away from the VTR which is a
sporty/tour-y type of motorbicycle. A more upright riding position but
still capable of getting going through the corners quite adequately. If
you prefer an injected 4,and you want to occasionally or semi regularly
take a pillion who is around 5'7 you say,and you want a Honda then
either go a VFR (by far the closest fit to the parameters) or consider
outside the Honda range. STX is a full on tourer and it sounds like you
wouldn't be too comfy with the size and weight.

Consider the naked/semi naked 4s'- Suzuki Bandit, Kawasaki ZRX, Suz
GSX1400, Yammie FZ1 etc (in fact there ya go that's probably the best of
the lot - an R1 engine in a more sensible frame - goes like the clappers
    but still pillion friendly).

Or consider the Trumpy daytona/speed triple/Sprint - the best attributes
of both the twin and the 4s in one package

*grin* so wheeliers aren't doing that? And traffic carvers are all
solely focused on time from a-b?

Me, I figure that I can't work out anyone's motivation, even if they
    only had the one.

What they do doesn't hurt me, so they can do what they like for any damn
reason they like, because if I can decide one reason's better than
    another, so can anyone else.

"Macho" and "because I feel free and happy doing it" are both the same -
they are good feelings, pleasurable feelings.

And if you ban one, why not ban the other?

Me, I'll happily say that I feel macho sometimes on the bike, just like
sometimes I feel bloody miserable, and sometimes happy, and sometimes
    it's very close to sex.

If someone wears little gear because it makes them feel powerful and in
control, to me there's *no difference* to someone who wears lotsa
leathers cos they feel powerful and in control. And plenty do feel that
    way.

I've got enough to do sorting my own decisions without trying to rubbish
others for how they reach their own.

I'll obviously need to have a good look at a different few bikes John.
    Thanks for your advice.

But not enough sorting to keep you from popping in and rubbishing other people's opinions? ;-)

Except he said he wasn't OK with something too heavy IIRC :)

    JL
(Just kidding, yeah a Blackbird or a VFR would be the best fit - I still
think the VFR would be better given his penchant for the 'Blade)

I couldn't read the signwriting on the van in your photos.
Those vans are popular here too, but their engines sound
like the bearings are crook because they have 0.003" clearance
from new, instead of the usual 0.0015" although they do have
high flow oil pumps. We used to grind Mitsubishi crankshafts
to suit, and only gave them 1.5 thou " clearance. They sounded
much different. (no rumble) (Mitsubishi bearing chuckle)

  19. I'd lean towards the CB600F (and its variants) rather than the VTR. I
wouldn't put the VTR up there as a two up tourer.
