Strange. I was (and still am confident) that I saw Pan and NTL. I
guess it's a false memory; maybe I was stalking^w looking at someone
    elses's headers?

I don’t have a normally aspirated bike see VVV, well apart from the 125
but that has enough trouble breaking the sound barrier in a vacuum let
    alone steal.

Really? I thought it was the 650 that was the turbo model?

You should have packed the baffles with lard and mixed washing up liquid in
with your fuel like I told you too!
Oh, BTW, wiping down the inside of the outlet manifold with dried banana
skin and crushed aspirin will certainly get the compression ratio up to at
    least 35:1

I thought FI counted as abnormal aspiration

    Darn that big-footed Champion chappie.

No, Bob - it's all down to pressure, innit. Any vehicle that breathes
air at atmospheric pressure, by whatever means the fuel is introduced,
    is "normally aspirated".
Forced induction by means of turbo- or supercharging is the opposite,
but I wouldn't really refer to it as "abnormal", especially these days
when every other vehicle seems to have a little blower stuck on it
    somewhere.

Ah, that makes sense, but if on an FI machine the fuel is... well...
er... injected I suppose and the air not why don’t they run rich all the
time [1] and do you get anymore power, if not what’s the point?

I understand the concepts of a supercharger or turbocharger but I’ve
never realy thought about fuel injection.

    [1] mine excluded

Fuel injection does not get *more* fuel into the engine, it gets just
the *right amount* in, for any set of revs, throttle opening, engine
temp, air temp, ambient pressure. It's advantage over carbs it can be
    much more accurate [1].

Your other misconception seems to be around what 'injected' means.
What happens is that the "injector" delivers a fine spray of petrol
into the incoming air stream, which vapourises instantly.

[1] I've seen a carburettor described as "a device to deliver just the
wrong amount of fuel to an engine for an given set of operating
    conditions"

I can't be arsed typing an explanation, so:

Your homework assignment: a 1000-word report on nitrous oxide systems,
how they work, and their advantages and disadvantages.

On my desk, first thing in the morning.

And you would largely be correct, given the compromises that have to
be made, specifically wrt choke and jet sizes, variable road and load
conditions and the desire for an element of economy. However, (there
had to be one of these, eh?) one specific example I would like to
refer to is the Vauxhall 2.0 litre GTE engine. This is very popular
amongst the kitcar and special-building fraternity, as it is compact
and produces lots of power for its weight and cost.

The most popular tuning mod, which yields an instant 20bhp over the
top half of the rev range, is to rip off and throw away the injection
system, replacing it with a nice set of Webers. Does fuckall for
economy, but lets it breathe much more freely in a way that apparently
    the injection system can't replicate.

    Pays yer money ...

Ah, TVM for that, so how come mine is back firing, stalling and
generally miss behaving? Actually don’t answer that I’m of to Oz for 2
weeks in about 8 hours and won’t have time to do anything about it, I’ll
post a new thread when I get back, but what should I call it?

LaLaLa I’m going diving again. You may not have guest I’m quite excited

Thanks for that most excellent and useful site.
Steady Eddie, my dyslexia would mean a 1000 word report would take a
long time, and it’s time I don’t have I’m of to Oz in a bit and I have
to pack, however we’re thinking of doing the Nitorx diving course when
we’re out there I could give you a report on that.
