First ice free day for a while, so I repatriated the Firestorm to the
    garage from Stansted..

Resembled this starting up after sitting for 8 weeks in its frozen
    lair...

But no bikes on the roads, not a one, 'twas only a gentle blizzard :)

Some of us haven't stopped riding - I my case, mostly 'cos I don't have
    a choice...

  3. Same here. I was the only bugger of my crew to make it in for three
successive days during the last freeze. Consoled myself, as I slithered
around, that if I did hit anything, it wouldn't be moving and I was
unlikely to be doing more than 10mph. Fourteen miles to work and I got
into top only two or three times.

When the bike ran onto reserve early, I thought it was because the carb
    had iced up.

what? why? I thought you claimed to own three bikes?

Are you some sort of lamer?

No wait, that can't be right - you even appear to have a girlfriend
    these days[1].

[1] though it would have to be admitted that even in the context of an
actual pub, she was a tea-drinker.

Which is why I ride and don't drive...

  7. I just can't be arsed. The road surfaces here still have patches of
packed ice, loose snow and, sometimes, black ice on bits that look
clear. I can't be arsed dressing like a dough man just to stay warm.
And I can't be arsed with trying to look through a visor that's caked
in salty muck with insufficient spray for it to ever wash off. I did 2
years of riding all year round and I just can't be bothered any longer.

Certainly was when I rode home last night. My left hand got quite
chilly from wiping snow off my visor. Hooray for warm Guzzi rocker
    boxes.

I took the car today: I draw the line at ice-covered roads nowadays.

I hear what you're saying. It must have looked a bit daft, me piling
up the motorway in the gentle snowfall, but the road was grippy
enough, with no major worries. I can imagine the drivers comments
though,as it was a bit hairy visibility wise in the unlit bits on the
M11 and M25 ... (salt, grit, spray, misty visor all contributing)
