Where to find 100 octane unleaded in SF

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by Michael Sierchio, May 3, 2004.

  1. Subject line says it all -- locations in SF that sell
100 octane unleaded sought. Thanks in advance.

(would also be happy to know of places that sell
    any unleaded >= 95 octane.)

Unleaded could be a problem.... airports of any size carry 102 octane
routinely. Small air ports will pump gas into your bike or a can.
Race gas available at many bike shops is over 100 octane.

    Check your local "76" stations.

There's one on Woodside road in Redwood City that
    has 100 octane "race gas".

  4. You answered a different question from the one I asked,
but it was one you knew the answer to. ;-)

Conoco Phillips (Union 76) makes Competition 100, an
unleaded race fuel. It's sold at pumps in some locations
(usually by independent stations) and out of barrels.

I'm looking for a location that sells it in (or near) SF.
    Avgas is not an option.

  5. Try a motorcycle shop that caters to racers; ask if they carry VP fuel.
Google VP fuel to find exactly the type that you're looking for--they make
about 2 dozen varieties, some leaded, some unleaded, with a variety of
octane ratings, spec. gravity, etc. Kind of like Baskin Robbins.

Some auto parts stores carry racing fuel also, guess there must be one or
two of them in SF city.

  8. Calling the 800 number listed on the 76 web page for racing
fuels gets an answering machine for "Rocket Brand Racing Fuels,
previous known as 76 Performance Products." The promise to
return my call has been unfulfilled. Think they got any gas?

Fsck it, my motorcycle doesn't need a catalyst... ;-)

  9. This is a bit of an old thread, but thought I'd reply in the
event you've not found 100 octane fuel. I agree the best
location is your Union 76 station, but here are a few other
    ideas.

Try Cycle Gear in SF. They sell both Union 76 110 competition
fuel and VP racing fuel (try C12 or Ultimate 4). The price for
    5 gallon cans is about $40.00 for C12, $50.00 for Ultimate 4
(and well worth it in my humble opinion).

  10. Neither of which is unleaded, sadly. O2 sensors, closed-loop FI, all that ...
I've been buying Sunoco 100 Octane Unleaded online, and it seemed expensive
until the recent surge in pump prices for lowly 91 Octane. There is also
a 104 Octane Unleaded, but it is not EPA approved and prolly has too much
Oygenating agent for seals, grommets, pumps, etc.
