Race has been over for nearly a full minute and no posts about it?

Impressive stuff by Nicky and Collin.
    Great result, great podium.

One disapointment though: very little on-screen battles,
    almost no passing manouvres.
Overtaking by Gibernau in the corckscrew was exciting,
but if there was fierce battling, it must have been
at the back of the field, cause we did not see it.

    Nevertheless a worhwhile GP, definately.

For once a post-race interview with actual contents!
I cannot bear the "It was a very very 'ard race for sure"
    anymore... tell us something new.

Are you joking? It was a zoo, and the logistics of getting out of there were
challenging even though I am staying about 20 miles from the place, as I
tend to do most weekends (on top of loving motorcycles I am a beachbum and
love to surf and scuba, thus I stay by the coast most weekends!).

The Hayden display was awesome. Both Rossi and Edwards tried, but quickly
desisted. Shame about Barros, but on the other hand he'd likely been a
factor for the race for 4th. Checa also seemed to be unlucky to lose the
front, he did not seem to be pushing hard. Bayliss didn't finish as high up
as I hoped he would. after a promising early run. Hopkins and Nakano deserve
special mention as guys who were visibly riding their balls off on bikes
that seemed slower than the guys they were racing around, especially
Hopkins. Somebody give those guys a top bike, dammit. What is Hopkins
contract situation? Is he looking to move out of Suzuki, or do some golden
handcuffs rule his fortune? I would lust after his services if I was a top
team manager. Come on. I want to see this guy in a top team pronto.

At the end of the day, this was a great day for Rossi, who sees his closest
"challenger" DNF and most of the points going to guys that now merely catch
up on the pack running for 2nd best. Rossi's now nearly 80 damn points
ahead, and can afford to ride conservatively, which for him equals merely
racing for top 3 finishes - the championship is his unless disaster strikes,
because now that the ar for 2nd best has broken out, he can watch the other
guys split the points and merely ride for the title. Which probably will not
    be his style.

The race wasn't very exciting, but one can not blame Hayden, who had a
stellar and spectacular performance. I hope he carries this momentum
forward. Again, I am not necessarily a big believer in home track advantage.
But this is what a *confident* Hayden can do, and quite likely outside of
    Laguna Seca as well. Hopefully.

Or it's the only track where his style fits. Though I sure hope that's not
it. Rossi said that after following Hayden, he thought he should make his
style more physical for this track. The motogp.com coverage said some people
are saying that Hayden must stop backing it in and smooth out and carry more
corner speed, to conserve the tires for the end (on European tracks).

But we'll see, I hope he blasts to the front.
