Probably .. but I was measuring them by the standards of the day .. though I
do agree that a Le Mans was a much better general road bike, and one which I
_could_ sit on almost properly ... ;)
I think that's the same for any commentary though. Get a 'real'
ex-competitor and he can make more sense of it than any number of 'normal
    commentators' .. ;)

I did the old "Star Rider" course to pass my test which can't be compared
to modern courses and, I suppose, equates to being more or less self
    taught.

I sometimes wonder what bad riding habits I've got.

That's the one (it's all flooding back now).

My god customers who'd bought one used to argue the point.

    Them were t'days.

60K is the generally-accepted norm. Talking of which, the Blue Remembered
SOBMW is prolly only an hour or so's spannering away from resurrection...

    Oooh!

I thought it worth playing it a little safe as mine has spent a lot of
time either laid up or trying to keep up with far faster machinery. Very
little driving like Mr BMW intended.
    Now you're talking

I quite like him; I think the three make a good team - and I have a low
tolerance threshold for spazzy commentators - if anything it's Toby that
    grates the most.

I took quite a dislike to thingy Hobs presentation style on the WSB
    qualifying yesterday.

I did a Star Rider course when I got my first bike. Much like the CBT it
was, I can't remember who the bloke was though.

Bloody youngsters! I got taught by some off-duty coppers in Notts where one
of them won (one of ) the first 'customer' GSXR750(s) in the country and
brought it to our Sunday morning lesson the day after he picked it up from
    the NEC bike show.

He proceeded to take it through all the Part 1 cones as if it was a bloody
BMX whilst I wobbled on my GS125E (with ALFA non-silenced 'exhaust') with
    loads of dabs. Bastard.

Then again £15 for as many Sunday morning 3 hour lessons as we needed (plus
    part 1 & 2 costs) wasn't bad value....

Lucky bloke! If I won a bike, I'd think seriously about selling one of mine.
Heh.. I don't think I had to do that lot. Just turns, hill starts,
emergency stop and basic things. I just wanted to ride the thing, as I
already knew how to. I'd been riding a pedal cycle for a few years
before, and beating my mate into the local town on his moped. :)

    However....

It was soon after that I discovered that I knew next to feck all in
    regards to riding. :)
I got mine free when I bought a 2nd hand bike from a dealer in Crowborough.

And that is the rarer, and more desirable, 1000cc version with the
    slide carbs. Yum

Mk3 Escorts. Not one to be seen :)
Saw one of these at Chimay last year.
    Paging Statto ..
Loads of these still in use in London by the couriers.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

I had some trouble doing the turn-in-the-road on my TZR125. Foot down,
    still passed. Bless him.

One aims to please. And to horrify and disgust.
I didn't manage to see those, thanks to Kuwait's pathetic censorship.
