I go to Chicago for 2 weeks and there was over 900 messages.

I would be surprised if 50 have been posted in the last week.....

    what happened to everyone?

I like it when Bill goes off topic.
But IceGirl and I are counting votes now and it seems Bill Walker is in the
    lead for Supreme Monitor Elite...
I would almost say it is a landslide

I noticed the major complainers, Another Viewer, Albert Nurick, his sidekick
"Nick Danger", Dixon Ranch, Darrell, and the other enthusiastic "Clean up
this Newsgroup" contributors have become strangely silent.. Something wrong
with this picture.. Either they have made a connection with the political
"posts", or they just have nothing to contribute.. What's up, Mr. Beemer
Biker ? I'm calling names.. the flame wars have diminished slightly.. Now ..
"Where's the beef" ?? Could it be, that all of you guys claim status as
"bikers" by false pretenses ? Maybe, I should offer the green Vulcan "for
sale" again.. LOL.. Oh well, With Prop. 12 coming up for ballot this month,
guess it is time for some more politikin' . 'Sides, the weather is becoming
more friendly and I notice a lot more "real" bikers on the road.. See ya'
    all later..

"Thank yew vurry much" (Elvis, again).. All this suspense is taking it's
toll on me.. Dubya hasn't invited me to relax, over to the "Ranch".. I am
disappointed and am looking to trade my GMC pickup for a Nash Rambler..
(someone said they aren't making them anymore).. Oh well, just my luck,
isn't it.. The landslide prospect has got me all excited.. Stay in the
"loop" Iceman.. You and Icegirl are crucial to this all important election..

The topic police ran everyone off with their "off topic" complaints.

Those guys keep running this newsgroup down. I believe we need to
write a charter and ban all the topic police from posting. We also
need to write letters to their ISPs and complain so they'll lose their
    accounts.

Let's not forget that we need to punish the topic police by adding
them to a kill file that doesn't work but was designed by Albert and
leave them in there for 14 days to punish and harm them. Then if
they've learned their lessons and stopped complaining about other's
postings, they can come back out of the kill file (that doesn't work).

I think it's just so nice out that people are out riding, instead of
    on their computers. ;-)

Unfortunately, that's not my excuse. Work has been hectic.

    - Eric, hoping to get out and enjoy the weather tonight

Well I am not sticking up for Bill or Brian, but if you are going to
tell me that they are the only two that participated in the bickering
back and forth you are full of it. It takes two to argue.

Are you telling me that is all the group was good for was the
fighting? I just don't believe it.

I hope that is it. I had a great ride on Saturday and then only been
on the bike for some very short rides a couple of times since. I did
manage to get my coolant flushed and the bike washed and spiffed back
    up, though.

Just seems kind of sad that when everyone was fighting there was a ton
of posts (hard to keep up). Then that kind of dies down and a few us
are trying to post some good bike-specific posts and most people don't
say anything. Kind of makes me wonder why they are on the group in
    the first place?

Speaking of, anyone got the latest issue of Cycle World? There is a
whole bunch of articles on HD, especially the new sportster. I
haven't read the whole thing yet, but they are giving the bike good
    reviews.

What really gets me is that the reviewers are writing about how good
the bike is, how they managed to keep it nimble, how it vibrates less,
    etc.

Now, if you own an HD, I am NOT trying to dog you....but I rode a
friend's 883 once. That bike scared the hell out of me. Not because
it was fast or powerful or anything, but because it was the WORST
handling bike I had ever ridden. I rode it around a couple of blocks
and quickly brought it back. Was glad to be off of it.

So, is it just this one bike and I am missing something here or does
    anyone else have an opinion?

BTW - I found it highly amusing that Mr. Davidson was talking about
having less vibration. They took it down from 3.5" of movement to
1.5" of movement at the handlebars. WHAT?? I've seen these things
vibrate....OMG! you gotta be kidding me. lol 1.5" of movement is
    still a lot of movement.

I've been a motorcycle enthusiast for more than 20 years.. My first bike was
a 650 Honda Y-twin.. Too bad about the political disagreement.. I do believe
I can offer references to attest to my skills on a motorcycle.. LOL.. Thanks
    for asking..

  11. I just got back from a cruise; wish I could have taken my Honda. Playa del
Carmen and the surrounding area looked great for riding.

  13. if they were available for rent, you bet. any big touring bike in
Hawaii is kinda silly. you can't go that far before hitting water or
seeing the same things over and over and over... of course tourists on
holiday want to ride something cool so whatever makes them happy.

haven't seen it. friend of mine is planning out a KLR to do a mostly
dirt road mexico to canada tour thru the rockies next year.
not familiar with it at all, but i don't follow suzi that much.

I would have to agree with you on that one. I went on a ride with 'em
though and we had a real good time!!

I've been riding, let me see.....oh.... about 8 years now? Somewhere
in there. That's relatively a newbie compared to some of the old dogs
    on here (hehe).

First bike was a piece 'o crap Honda. It was called the mini-gold
wing. I took all the fairings and crap off of it. Big beast of a
bike compared to the new bikes. But, it got me going!

That sounds awesome! I did a cruise a long time ago. I've been
thinking about some of those guided motorcycle tours where they give
you a bike and take all your gear from place to place for you in a
chase van. A few of them I have read about sounded real interesting.

On second thought, I might better hold up about trading that GMC pickup.. I
don't know what kind of travel arrangements are being made for me to
Siberia.. Iceman is still checking passport status and I don't know that I
will be able to transport the thing there or not.. I ain't leaving without
the ol' green Vulcan.. Some say that it does get cold up there.. Now I might
be in the market for some heavy leathers.. LOL
