    Hi

I want to get hold of the Yamaha tool required for remving shims when
    setting the valve clearance.

I have no Yamaha dealers particularly close, and the closest (some 20 miles
    away) doens't sell them.

I've searched the web but have so far drawn a blank.

Any suggstions? Mail order would do.

I'm in the Norhampton area, if that makes a difference.

M+P Accessories used to do this sort of thing, but they're cunts who
ripped me off last year so I wouldn't give them my business or the
steam off my piss. Try Flitwick Motorcycles, the Yamaha dealer for
Bedfordshire, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to order one in for
    you

    |They advertised a pair of Daytona boots in my size, they were
advertised on the website as a pair of boots and with a sale price
showing the original price alongside. They were greatly reduced in
price, so I ordered a pair - these were the top of the range Security
Evos that retail at about £650. I waited and a box arrived, so I got a
bit excited cos you don't normally find stuff redcued from 650 sheets
down to £199. When I opened the box all that was inside was a pair of
the outer boots, no kevlar inners.

I got on the phone to them and after a bit of banter they said "Sorry,
that's all you're getting, we didn't mean you got the whole boot, we
only meant the outers". Naturally I protested that their website
claimed that it was 'a pair of boots' and not a pair of outers only,
and I stressed that they'd shown an original price etc, so the website
was deliberately misleading. While I was at it I ponted out that a set
of Security Evo outers were actually only £189 if I'd bought them at
full retail from any other Daytona dealer, not the 'sale' price they
advertised of £199 - ten quid more. He agreed and said they'd be taking
them off the website that day and they'd refund me. I boxed them back
up and a courier collected them at M+P's expense.

2 weeks passed and I still hadn't got a refund and they were still
advertising the boots. I called again and asked for either a full set
of boots or a refund immediately to my account. A week later it hit my
bank account... minus the original p+p charge of 12 quid. I called them
again asking them to refund the P+P as well because it wasn't my fault
the boots they'd supplied weren't what they advertised. I was told it
wasn't their policy to refund P+P charges on anything returned for
whatever reason. I argued for a good ten minutes with them but they
wouldn't budge, so I decided to boycott M+P from then on, and tell
anyone else what a bunch of cunts they are.

As an aside, they were still advertising the same size Daytona Security
Evos more than 6 months after I got my refund.

Thanks. I tried M&P online quite early in the search bu to no avail.
I've contacted Flitwick but haven't yet had a reply.

I figured touting the story around the net could do more damage to the
    cunts.

I'm not sure what the law says, I didn't look into it.
They were collected from my house by a courier company at M+P's
expense, if they'd told me to return them at my expense they'd still be
    sitting here.

Distance selling act, they should refund it.
    That too, IIRC.

Plus the goods were not as advertised, so that should also get them a
    slap.

It's not the P&P that would worry me so much as the misrepresentation,
    which clearly *is* illegal.

    Looks like that worked, then.

  14. There's too many **** sellers do this - they seem to think it's some
sort of compensation for losing out, even if it's their fuckup. I's sick
Trading Standards on them, then firxxxxx their premises, but hey, that's
    just me.

The FJ/FJR club does a shim removal tool for £29.

You need to be a member though, which might not be that useful for you
    with an XJR.

    Cheers,

    Paul..

Flitwick have come up trumps (as did a shop in Melton Mowbray after all
    that)

I'll see if I can get one ordered over the weekend and make a ride of
    collecting it the next.

    Cheers.
