....anyone fancy giving me a hand removing and refitting the wheels on
my LC4 in return for curry and beer?

If you were close enough, I'd have the thing on the lift and done. Mind you,
I've no idea where you are, but if you *are* close to Bolton, I'd be happy
    to.

I don't even know where Bolton is.

    I'm in North London.

Getting the thing in a position to take both wheels off isn't a
problem (the bike has a horizontal bash plate it can sit on).

I just don't like the idea of riding a bike where the axel/spacers/
brakes etc. have been re-fitted by me.

    IKWYM.

The one time I decided I would remove the rear wheel from the 9R to get
a new tyre put on, rather than ride-in/ride-out, I lost a pingfuckit
for a while[1] and then managed to cross thread the rear wheel
    spindle[2].

[1] Evenutally found it, but didn't know what it was or where it came
from. Eventually ukrm came to the rescue.
    [2] eBay to the rescue.

It's where the Chip People live.
If I fitted it and you died, I'd put that in my sig.

    Oh, be fair!

    I didn't cross thread it.

    I stripped it.

So, let me get this straight.

You are, in your field, an incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable man,
who is paid what is, to most people, a remarkably good wage, yet...

....you're too thick to remove a pair of wheels off the easiest bike to
remove wheels from, and too tight to pay a mechanic.

    Even I'm impressed.

    that's about right.
mechanically unsympathetic is my preferred term.
is it really? I managed the rear off and on my 'blade with a bit of
hassle - is the KTM easier than that?
no, I would, if there was a ride-in/ride-out service available within
    a few miles.

Front - loosen fork pinch bolts, remove axle nut, smack axle out.
Rear - loosen chain tension nuts, remove axle nut, smack axle out.

They're great to work on, especially as you can even chuck 'em on their
side and not worry about it. No need to even use a paddock stand.
