    hear! hear! triples are trumps.

Speaking of which, Mr Stepthru (son of Mr Moped) rolled into the driveway
and parked a brand new Triumph Daytona next to his old man's Sprint RS.

What a tasty pair they are - they just bounce bling off each other.

Now here's the pisser - Mr Stepthru is disappearing off to Newman for a few
weeks on Monday leaving said Daytona in the care of his old man "to run it
    in while I'm away"

    har, har, har!!

There is a small warm wet patch of anticipation appearing in my nether
regions at Mondays jolly to work :)))))))

One can only hope that Mr Plod calls a strike on Monday.

most Japanese "fully faired sports bikes" with heaps more mumbo

comparing apple to apples like a SV650 then the duc is still exxy
and for christ sake... $12750 for a 620 that is only learner legal!

I like ducs, but they are over priced for what you get

    mh
(cant wait untill I have more money than sense...996 wrapped in carbon
    fibre please)

    redbook

    2003 SUZUKI SV650

    Cycle ROAD Manual 6sp 650cc
    Trade in price guide* $4,100 - $4,900
    National average price - private sale* $5,800 - $6,900
    Price when new (RRP) $10,290

    003 DUCATI M 620

    Cycle ROAD Manual 5sp 618cc
    Trade in price guide* $4,400 - $5,200
    National average price - private sale* $6,300 - $7,500
    Price when new (RRP) $11,795

and no, power is not the only reason to buy a bike, totally agree, but
I would like a little more than a learner legal would offer

I would pick the SV every single time....why, the SV suits my 6ft3
    frame and cheaper to service

I am a function over form sort of guy, that why I ride the world
    ugliest bike, the V-Strom

Resale value is difficult to pick.

My 650 Pantah increased in resale value every year for the 3 years I
owned it, but that's a very special case :) Whereas ask anyone who
bought a tricolour 851 about resale value...

Small Monsters I think don't have the resale value as much as the
bigger ones, and I suspect that's precisely because of the SV. And
SVs might find Hyosungs eating at their resale.

MOral of the story? Buy the bike that you love and don't bother
    selling the bloody thing!

    After 5 years a $10000 SV650S will be worth about $5000.

    1997 DUCATI 600SS FULL FAIRING

    Cycle ROAD Manual 5sp 600cc (Oct 1996)
    Trade in price guide* $5,000 - $6,000
    National average price - private sale* $7,200 - $8,500
    Price when new (RRP) $12,995

Is that better? I reckon mine is worth around $7,000. Seen then in
    autotrader at that price.

    Like the eurobike riders?

A 748 rider was once heard to say:

    "Oh, it's really quite comfortable.
I just don't like riding it for more than about 30 minutes at a time."

    I had a 500 in-line two-stroke triple. (I've also had a 350, 750 and 900
    in-line triple).
    Never had a V4 though.
I've never had a V with more than two cylinders. (Unless you count the
saggy-tit V4 of the Subaru Brumby)
