When a handful of clutch can lead to a stoppie...

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Carmichael, Jul 5, 2007.

  1. About 20 years without riding a pushbike. Bought one the other day. Some
bright spark decided to change the front brake over to the left.

Also, that bottle that clips on the frame, the one with the hot water in
it, does anyone know if one can purchase an insulated version?

Other than that, my bum hurts.

Is it a left hand drive country thing as Canadian bikes are the same?

That's the way the Americans rig brakes. Can't be doing with it meself
so would switch the cables round.

They're like that on the continent. Everytime I hire a mountain bike over
there, I have to recalibrate the brain.

sorry - I've just been in a 2 hour MiFID meeting and I'm ready to
question anything, including my will to live.
it just sounds counter-intuitive to me - surely, humans, along with
most mammals must have evolved drinking cold water?

I suspect you may be confusing 'dehydrated' with 'hot'. Drinking very
cold water when you're very hot can cause stomach cramps.

You need to sofa that idea, before you're really kettled. There's
probably someone, somewhere that makes a living out of verbing the
nounage, and it wouldn't be fair to litter-bin their future.

you can see why my brain was addled of two hours of discussing this in
    a pan-European perspective[1]

[1] apparently, in the EU, only the UK and - bogglingly - Bulgaria are
good to go - everyone else is stuffed for the Nov 1st. deadline.

I am involved in this from an IT POV - it impacts several of our web-
based offerings, which are my responsibility.

of course. The project's being run by them.
could be. The only reason the UK is ready is that the new legislation
was originally driven by the FSA.
