Nice one Tony. Today's lesson children, is inertia. As TOG mentioned,
HTF did the driver fail to see you?

    Glad you are [mostly] OK.

    Little scrote in a Peugot 106 rear-ended my 1150GS a week ago.
I stopped at a red light. He didn't. He swerved, missing the bulk
of the bike but ripped off the nearside pannier and pannier rail.
Damage to my bike - £360 worth of panniers. Damage to his [mummy's]
car - extensive. The corner of his bonnet, light clusster and front
wing were completely trashed. All from hitting a small plastic pannier
at 30mph [containing a 2.5m Thatcham approved security chain and
    padlock].

    Fnaaar... Serves him right.

Ah - I can see the broken beaky now, but the forks still look straight
    to me.

I think he was concentrating on the more complex flow of traffic coming from
the other direction (2 lanes approaching a set of traffic lights) and forgot
    to look the other way.

The GSA is not a small bike and its headlight is permanently wired on. I was
also wearing a white crash helmet. So I think it was likely a case of didn't
look rather than looked and didn't see.

At first I thought the forks looked bent, then I wasn't sure. Digi
cameras often have a bit of barrel distortion on the lens because they
    are so small.

Is there anything wrong with your bike apart from the horrible beak
being removed which actually makes it look better?

This happened on my second bin.

'twas extremely annoying to see the car pull across me, the passenger
to panic on seeing me and shout for the driver to stop, blocking the
road completely between standing traffic and some pedestrian railings.

I politely dumped the bike, and got myself wedged between my bike and
    their car.

The fucking woman gets out and says, "your fault, you hit me"

I said, "you didn't give me much fucking choice did you"

So away they merrily bimble, leaving me with broken bike and
    collarbone.

Good job I forgive and forget.

    Twats :)

SMIDSY? DId you get the ABS-a-working then? Might have paid for itself in
    just that one incident.

It has more than paid for itself already. I can recall at least 2 incidents
when it has saved me from minor spills. The system managed to slow the bike
down very quickly whilst keeping the bike upright and I believe this saved
me from suffering more serious injuries. Well worth the money IMHO.
