Wheelie at 161MPH and no Jail.

  1. The real reason he got hammered is because he was taking the piss at a
camera site - the attempting to pervert the course of justice (no plate)
was the main thing, that's what got him royally shafted.

In that regard, I've not got a great deal of sympathy for the pillock -
he knowingly took a huge chance and got nailed. Ffs, he must've known
the coppers would devote man-hours to IDing him in those circumstances.

He may as well have dropped his drawers in front of a police station and
    shouted, "**** you, coppers."

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the

    Heh.

No, it's the one you wish you'd read because now you're looking at a
load of pictures of a gearbox. If you'd have been paying attention you'd
    have known that ;-)

Oh, I don't deny why he got hammered. I just object to the level of
    punishment.

Do you reckon we could get a discount if did a bulk order of leathers
    with "Brunstrom" on the back?

  7. Going on the past history of the women that you have frequented I'm not
    surprised.

I've just given her your number.

I've a real problem with the concept that no number plate = perverting
    the course of justice though.

Given the likelihood of his having removed his plate specifically to
avoid being identified carrying out an act he knew to be illegal, I
can't see how such an act *couldn't* be considered perverting the course
of justice, at least to some extent. Unless you can think of a more
    appropriate current offence?

  13. They often come down hard (1) on it because, though this offence was
relatively trivial, others who carry out more serious offences are
mindful of the degree of punishment meted out to those who try it on.

"Taking the piss out of the court process", is not an offence in itself,
but that's what it is really, in more formal terms. It's a whole, "We're
bigger than you and got the power to **** you up", process.

    (1) And the mag had a bad day, of course; that's always a factor.

Antony Gelberg banged the rocks together and said:
9.15am on a bright clear morning. Blue bike, bright leathers, gloves,
helmet, lights on dipped beam, good visibility along road, and the ****
still drove right across my path.

Wear what the hell you like, it makes no difference.

I really fucked up recently; at Heathrow T1 there's a trial for a system
which scans your eyes and lets you into the country rather than making
you queue for someone to look at your passport and grunt.

I registered for this since a queue of 10 minutes to wave my passport is
    something I find intolerable.

Now, of course, 'they' have my cornea/iris/whatever matched to my
passport. Hmm. Thinking of minority report style solutions here.

Well, yes, he clearly removed the plate to avoid being identified but
even so... I think "perverting the course of justice" is complete and
utter overkill. Surely that offense should be reserved for important
things like bribing jurors, witnesses and the like?

Anyway, did you tidy your room?

  18. Nevertheless, it's what he did - they (CPS, judges) don't have a sense
of proportion about it at all.

I agree, to some extent, but can you think of a more appropriate
    current offence?
