yeah i know they have a bad reputation, but is deserved or just media hype ?

know abit about the steering damper probs?

know abit about the rotary damp probs ?

not much about efi fueling probs or cracking frames?

but ill be happy to listen to people experiences or opinions on the above or
other matters of note concerning the bike. ?

whats people opinion on the best year/model to get ???

how does a 99 model with 9000 kays on the clock for $9990 sound, stock i
thiunk apert from remus alloy or s/s cans and a venturer rack.

how are they for comfort, handing, braking, fuel economy (i heard they are
    gas guzzlers) ?

carry a jerry can with you.
fat bastards like yourself will test the limits of its suspension and
    its mileage.
As for the price I think they are asking a tad too much for a 5 yo bike
    with a bad rep.

  4. Do mean the "R"?

Bad rep, not really, no more than BMW and their cracked subframes.

Fuel consumption not that bad. Under rated bike. The question is are you
track daying it or riding it within the letter of the law?

I'd drop 1500 off the price.

track daying it or riding it within the letter of the law?
I doubt that they suit either task particularly well.

  7. Heard they were the commodore of bikes, pretty impressive acceleration
but nought handling to go with it, to the point of being diabolical.

hmmm, thanks for the info, fellas,

welcome to perth where dealers tend to charge the earth for good bikes and
give you **** all in return for yours coz they know you can only travel so
    far to look

ie the most a dealer would offer for my 2002 636 was $9g, which im sure they
would have put back on the floor for $11g

Ok, corks, let's say they got $11k after giving you $9k for it.
Let's say the tyres were worn or fucked and had to be replaced at their cost
say $500 fitted, and it sits on their floor for a couple of months at 9%.
Their cost is now $9635, and IF they get the $11k for it, they make a gross
margin of 12.4%, out of which they pay commission to the salesman, pay the
    mechanic, and meet other overheads.
In my ignorance, I would have thought that $9k was a good price for a
two-year-old 600 sportsbike which has been thrashed by an overweight
    speed-merchant :)

Well here's a clue Scrote; STOP FUCKING CHANGING BIKES!!
Are each of these bikes so shithouse that you just can't stand owning them
for more than 6 months or are you a sucker for a shiny dog-in-the-window?

Did they push it over from Sydney or something?

  13. No, Clem. That should be something like "If you have the urge for a new
    bike, don't swap... add."
Before you know it, you'll have six of them in the garage, too (again).

  14. A bike'd want to be pretty shit before those sorts of comparisons start
    getting made.

As far as the TL-S being "diabolical", I'd suggest the holder of that
opinion go and do a lap on something like a GSX1100...

(I'd have a crashed one just so I could make a project out of it)

    Okay here's the news.

97 TLS's didn't come with a steering damper but they were fitted with them by Suzuki. 97 TL engines lack the
ignition retardation for (TRE?) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears and the 97 engine is the most powerful TL engine
produced. Later TL engines were detuned...TLR's included.

Beyond that, I believe you can get 220 out of a tank and depending on how you adjust the forks and rear
damper, you shouldn't encounter too many tankslappers which only happen on full throttle accelleration and
over bumps mid corner but it's still fairly rare for most riders.

Check for cracks in the frame where the damper mounts and if the mounting bolts are tight and on the upper
frame mount on after market shock converstions check for cracks. Some shocks require the frame to be machined
away in order to prevent rubbing but it's okay if it's got an engineer's cert.

TLR 6 pots can fit on as opposed to the TLS 4 pot calipers but you need the larger master cylinder to go with
    the 6 pot conversion.

TLS, TLR and Busa rear rims are interchangable, so no parts problems there as are the GSXR rims which allow
the smaller 180 section tyres to be fitted decreasing rotating mass and helping the handling.

That's all I can think of at the moment except, get one with a full Yoshi system...gives me wood!

Oh, and that's for the rear damper not the sterring damper.
