what's the breaking-strength of a bungee?

Seen just now - scooter heading along, bungee cord tied to the rack...

....with the free end of the bungee bouncing along the road.

It'll be "interesting" if by some chance the hook gets caught in a
    manhole-cover or somesuch.

I'd have thought the hook/elastic interface would be first to go. If it's
the road end that breaks, it'll hurt like **** when it pings back and hits
    the rider on the back

that was my thought - the other end was clearly tied around and
    through the rack.

Question is......Where is the load he should have had on the back?

Be more fun if it get caught by a car going the other way, or even another
    scooter...

that's true, but worryingly - and I'm assuming it's a sign of getting
old - my first concern was that if it snapped, the flailing end might
have some innocent passer-by's eye out.

I don't want to read any of Robbo's crap, so I've killfiled ".." (or
rather the actual email address hiding behind this). I can see how you
might have misinterpreted my comment above as putting Lozzo in the kf,
but this isn't the case (yet ;-)

Isn't it sad that you feel so inwardly insecure though?
