  2. Thought so. But we do have a local office who look after visitors. So it
might not be too bad. It's for 12 days only though.

  3. < SNIP good advice>

Amex travel insurance looks good. The company will pay for that. I think I
will be OK. The local office have looked after other colleagues from
Europe. I wanted to go to Moscow but it looks like that's off for the
Moment. I have to call in and be looked after by the Dubai local office
    first. Whats that place like?

    Ask a Paki.

Seriously. There's bound to be one in a shop near you.

It's ok, but it'd be better towed out into the Atlantic and sunk.[/QUOTE]

Isn't that what happened to Ireland about 20 million years ago...........

    when *will* it sink?

The worst country I've ever had the misfortune to live/work in. Don't
go if you can avoid it. If your employer tries to force you to go then
    change your job.

Remember that I've worked in a lot of shit countries (war zones
included) so for me to say it's the worst means it must be pretty
    fucking bad.

    Watch where you're going.

If it's on the FCO shit-list, refuse to go. Seriously.

Make *sure* you're on a fully-flexible ticket with a reputable carrier.
Try to avoid all internal travel. Fly in, do work, fly out. Arrange to
be picked up from the airport by the hotel.

Make *sure* you're in an international chain hotel. A good one.

Make *sure* you've got excellent travel insurance (with a 24-hour
    contact number). I recommend Amex.

Make *sure* you only ever drink water from a bottle with a seal that
you've broken. If one is presented unsealed, just ask for a sealed one.
You may cause mild offence, but it's worth it.

Make *sure* you've got a cork of a suitable size (probably a size or two
up on what you'd need today).

    Have fun.

Wales is fine, 'specially the uppy downy, twisty turny bits of it ... it's
the Welsh that are the problem.

    And the rain ...

Don't go. Having a local office makes no difference, just tell them to
    **** off.
