What's going on? (Blood supplies)

  1. Now there's a thing!

Mid afternoon a pair of F15 Strike Eagles went right overhead at
between 500 and 1000 feet. I assume they had just taken off.

    Then in the following order:
The TV in the lounge turned on.
The TV in the kitchen turned off.
    Jane's computer turned on.
The video in the lounge turned on and selected the now 'on' TV .
The Video then went through 4 or 5 channels and turned off.
The TV then switched over to one of the Sky boxes which changed channels
then tuned off followed by the TV.

I'm told that if you stand near to an ECM pod on a F15 it could fry your
    nuts off!

    Now there's a thing![/QUOTE]

This morning I paid more attention than usual to the raiding party of
ticket inspectors who blocked the path from platforms 13 and 14 (which
serve West London stations) to the main Paddington concourse. Their
presence has become the norm only in the last week.

Apart from the glut of 6 or so inspectors who were grouped together as
a gaggle checking tickets, there were no less than 4 roaming
individuals eyeballing everyone approaching and passing the checkpoint.
As the North African / Arab looking guy walking in front of me was
passing the leading spotter, he was looked up and down very carefully -
in my view a surprising level of scrutiny to be provided simply by a
ticket inspector. The fact that many of these inspectors are new faces
to me (and I use this line every day) adds to my suspicion that they're
Special Branch / MI5 acting on specific intelligence. Maybe I'm just
paranoid as all of this could be explained away by the "New crackdown
on ticket dodgers" that the Evening Standard heralds this evening.
Surely the govt wouldn't feed a cover story to the press?
Could this explain my (capacitive operated) touch sensitive light
switch turning the lights on in my lounge of its own accord last week?
Either that or I've a poltergeist..

Looks mildly amusing, but I don't reckon it'll be another L.627.

The way I read it is that some French plod are no different from some
plod in other places. Give a bullying **** some power and he'll abuse
    it.

Aye, you're not wrong. In my, admittedly limited[1], experience, frog
plod are actually more inclined to come over all heavy-handed than
their UK counterpart. They're certainly more intimidating, by virtue
of their uniform (jackboots, anyone) and guns, if nothing else.

And the fact that they can demand to be paid for any fine, in readies,
at the roadside, also gives them a certain bullying aurora, IYSWIM.

Oh, you've probably seen the Digital Radars, which was a starter. The
main thing is the speed campaign. More flics on the road, more
controls, more fines, etc, etc. Basically, the overall picture is a
drastic increase in traffic control, to reduce the abysmal amount of
accidents on French roads. Whether you like the methods or not, it
appears to be having positive effects.
Heh. I'm getting into it now. It does help working with French people
    though. :)
