What's going on? (Blood supplies)

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mick Whittingham, Aug 2, 2004.

  1. While visiting my mum in the local hospital, I bumped into a friend on
the a surgical team there. He was a tad pissed off because they had been
told to cancel all but essential operations in the near future to save
on blood supplies in case of an imminent emergency.

What's going on is it's summer. Donors are on holiday. Stocks fall.

Happens every year. Nothing to see here, move along, move along.

Also, with one fell swoop any blood donor who has received blood in the last
25 years must not donate any more. Something to do with the (alleged)
    transmission of CJD.

I came to settle in Britain, after living in other places all around the
world. I've also worked in the US and I wouldn't want to live anywhere
else but here, except maybe Malta when I retire.

Do so in a french newsgroup and I'd be cool with it, however this is a
    ..uk newsgroup.

Perhaps you could simply stop being such a clown.

People who have spent more than 6 months in the UK can't give blood
here in Canada. It's quite a common restriction, I believe.

Mine falls into the "never again" category and is because I have had
    major heart surgery.
