Whats a good Wet Weatehr Jacket to buy up to about $350?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Brenton Spear, Jan 30, 2005.

  1. I will be riding this winter so I am after a good jacket to see me through
the Melbourne winter. Must be lined, etc.

Whats a good one (Brand and Model please :) ) and how much? I have looked at
    some DriRiders at around $350.

  2. Whats the equivalent in the new '05 gear? The arctic might be hard to get.
Price looks around the $550 online.

Don't really think you'll get all that far with $350 and a Melb winter :((
Check around at BikeMart/ Ringwood for a DriRider Arctic, there should still
be some around, might cost a bit more though ( not that much though...).
And get a bottle of all-purpose silicon to redo he seams on any thin nylon
    wets...used or new.

  5. The Canberra branch of spammer-bitches-r-us showed me one of these
    yesterday:

    http://www.underdog-leathers.com/jackets/jacketscorduralumina.html

and said it did a _really_ good job of keeping the rain out - it
    _looked_ well made...

at $290 + $45 for the "winter liner" its right in your price range...

I'll vouch for the upper end of the Dri-Rider range - I've got one thats
now 4 years old, and its only just started to leak - I think the current
equivalent in the Dri-Rider range is closer to $600 than $350 though,
and I've heard people whinging about the cheap end of the Dri-Rider
    range in the past...

Forget online, see BikeMart. Used to have them for 399.
Arctic will runout shortly together with the Summit, both jackets are
    superseeded by the Summit_2.
Arctic RRP was 600+ and it IS a good winter jacket. It's not hard to get,
just not the right season for it at the moment, stocks would be quite low,
    Brian's got 'em.

    cheers

  7. I've found the R-Jays Viking Plus pretty good for wet weather riding, and I
found it good in the cold and wet of Armidale, (which has weather almost as
bad as Melbourne). Probably a fair bit over the $350 mark though.

Like all "waterproof" things, you need to redo the waterproofing every year
    or so.

  11. Thats 290 with the winter liner included. All of the cordura range come
with a winter liner as standard, and its removable.

Its all on the website. And its all in my head since its my website.

Time to update the website, then Joe. It has the winter liner as an
    optional extra.
