D'oh. It was the rear I was thinking of, which my bike wanted, and
which Blaney managed to source once he'd got it back in the UK. The
front on that one was the rather nice patterned stainless one which I
    was happy to leave on.

  3. Ah, right. I dunno where he got those rears from - £159 is exclusive of
VAT and p&p remember, so it's nearer £200.

I've sold as new and NOS rear guards for around £150.

That was a really nice component, actually. Looked very close to stock,
except for the bit of patterning, and was stainless too. No idea where
it came from, and I've never seen another like it.

Indeed. Also a sense of reality. I acquired a low very mileage, very
nice running example[1] for little more in 2006.

Might watch it and offer a couple of hundred for spares if he can
actually prove the new bits referred to have been fitted.

[1] until it seized, though the failure mentioned on this one sounds
more like classic GFR 'cold seizure', which isn't usually terminal.

    I'm after an ex-MOD Armstrong MT500 or maybe a 350.

I refuse to get a sidecar but I suspect the BMW won't be up to the next
    'jaunt'.

No I didn't - oh, as you were.
Up to a point, Lord Copper.
