    Heh.

It's not _that_ bad. And the good days make up for it being shitty at
    times.

Plus, I've got a lot of good friends around there, I can take an easier
    job etc.

It's a no-brainer - especially when you consider the roads up there.

True. I had a mate who had one. It spent most of its time off the
    road.

People here often cite that as a reason for living/not living in one
    place or another.[0]

It's fairly fucking low down my list of priorities, though, to be
    honest.

[0] Is it more of this desperation to prove oneself a "real" biker, I
wonder - along with telling people to ride through winter, comparing how
many miles one does per year, etc.[1]

[1] Other dull willy-waggling which I'm going to start handing out
killfile punishments for are: boasting about how long one has been on
"the internet", and talking about the oldest computers one used.

Hell I couldn't live anywhere without decent roads.
Communications are very high on my list of priorities
What about biting the heads off of chicken?
Actually it was called arpanet when I first used it.

Did anyone ever have a Nascom?

Gasless wire. That's the answer. It's actually MIG wire designed to
be used outdoors, where the shield would (as you correctly surmise) be
blown away. Gasless wire carries flux down the centre, which
    effectively replaces the gas shield.

Still looks like chickenshit, mind. And porous.
