Play-doh has been around a lot longer than the Simpsons...

What about the other person who knows? You should at least read what
    you write.

You already said in your first post that the first bike was travelling
very fast... so we can assume that the second bike was too. Stop
digging when you find the miners.

  6. Doesn't worry me Theo, I have been riding for a couple of years, still alive
to tell the story of one unfortunate fellow rider killed by the actions of a
car driver and thought that maybe, somewhere out there, there would be some
other bike riders who felt the same way and who had experienced almost the
same incident as this kid did, but alas, there seems to be only a couple who
would have the sensitivity to agree with me, the others as you can see, have
gone off with messages of abuse, to which they do themselves no credit, just
proving that they are illiterate and insensitive lot of wankers.
As I replied to one, "When I see them sitting at the side of the road beside
a broken bike, or sitting with a broken leg from a car driver, then I will
may give them a wave and leave them to their own devices", seeing that they
know it all, why should they need my help.?

  7. No Nev, read it again, this time a bit slower.
    I said,
"She claimed as she neared the corner, a motor cycle passed her travelling
very fast, then she slowed to 10 kph to make the turn, heard a high revving
motorcycle and then another motorcycle collided with the drivers door of the
    car she was driving."

  8. What other person,
where in the original post did I say there was another person who knows
whether she had an indicator on or not.
Only she would know and the young rider who hit her car and he is now dead.
The rider who passed her would not have looked back after he passed her to
see if she had the indicator going.

  9. As I said to another person,
Were you there, do you know the particular road?
If not, then you can't say if there were double lines or not.
Do you know if it was a main intersection or a road off another smaller
    road?
Do you even know the area?
There are a lot of roads in that city which intersect with other roads and
not many of them are blessed with double lines nearing the intersection.

Go to the top of the class, but another six of the best for back-chat young
    man bwahahahaha. (there's always one...)

What is it with all these "clever" brand names anyway? I think the ones that
piss me off the most are Krispy Kreme and Kwik Kopy..... I know, I know,
it's a little thing, but WHY do they do it??? Maybe that sort of thing was
clever back in the old days, but nowadays it's all a bit cliched.

    <paranoid expression> the deliberate mis-spellings were probably a cunning
plan to drive English teachers insane.... looks like it worked.

Gee, you sent me on a bit of a nostalgia trip there Nev... oh, those
    pre-Simpsons days....(I remember them well....)

Play-doh was the fancy expensive stuff when I was little - we had stinky old
plasticine, or REAL home-made play-dough that really WAS a sort of claggy
disgusting "dough". It used to get really stinky after a short time,
especially in the warm weather (which we didn't have much of in London back
    then....) Ugh! <violins>

If it varies from case to case, I'd have thought that a case where no
harm ocurred would be at the low and and a case where a death ocurred
would be at the high end.

With comments like that, George, you may very well find someone willing to
put you in the same position.

I don't need to. The applicable offence isn't "overtake over double
white lines approaching an intersection", it is "overtake approaching an
    intersection".

It applies to all intersections, of all shapes, of all sizes, for the
reason illustrated in the case at hand.

I do it NOW; I didn't know to do it when I was 18-20 though.
I had several close calls before the little light-bulb went off.
(and I don't recall anyone ever warning me of the danger... but that
might've been my own fault as I was pretty pig-headed and didn't really
    encourage advice)

In a case where the driver of the unregistered vehicle is at fault, and
in which their vehicle being unregistered was, somehow, a contributing
factor to the accident, it probably would...

....in the case at hand, however...

  19. You know, the whole "it's all those nasty car drivers fault, woe is me,
he/she didn't see me, isn't he/she is the devil" thing is getting a bit old.

And it's not winning us (as riders) any friends.

We need to start taking responsibility for our actions.

The rider overtook someone who was turning right. Regardless of the fact
that she was driving unregistered, and regardless of whether or not she
indicated (which we'll never know) the rider was _STILL_ in the wrong.

While the driver could (and should) have prevented the accident, the
rider also could (and should) have prevented the accident.
Unfortunately, he paid for his stupid mistake with his life.

Yes, there are idiots out there in cars, but there are also idiots out
    there on bikes.

Having "years of experience on a dirt bike" doesn't count for squat on
the road. If anything (cue lots of angry replies) it makes you a WORSE
road rider, at least to start with, because while the control skills are
there, the road craft isn't, and often a false sense of security is.
Also, road bikes and dirt bikes are different (there, I said it), and
react differently. It's also a bit different tooling around the bush at
around 60-80kmh to rocketing down a roadway at 150+.

The sooner we stop saying "woe is us, those mean car drivers won't see
us" and start saying "yep, those car drivers don't look, so we're going
to behave sensibly, and look out for ourselves, and leave buffer zones,
etc, etc" the longer we'll live, and the more chance we have of being
    taken seriously.

You have the power to prevent 99.9% of potential accidents that could
befall you. Being "in the right" doesn't matter if you are also "in the
    box".

    [scrunches up face even further]
Do you? Do you know the particular road, intersection, double lines etc?
If so then PLEASE tell us what the problem is (and why the woman deserves
your/our scorn) 'cause all the information you've given us so far says the
    bikie was at fault.....
