What value would you put on a motorcyclists life?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by George W. Frost, May 21, 2006.

  1. I read in the Warrnambool Standard the other day about a woman who faced the
Court after a motor cycle collided with her unregistered and unroadworthy
car when she was executing a right hand turn from one road to another.
She claimed as she neared the corner, a motor cycle passed her travelling
very fast, then she slowed to 10 kph to make the turn, heard a high revving
motorcycle and then another motorcycle collided with the drivers door of the
    car she was driving.
Unfortunately, the rider of the motorcycle, died as a result of the
    collision.
The upshot is that the magistrate told the woman that she was not to blame
for driving an unregistered and unroadworthy car because it wasn't hers and
she had only borrowed it to do an errand and fined her a grand total of $300
plus Court costs of $40 or $50, not sure which, but the fine of $300 is what
this magistrate values a life at.
She must have had a good lyer representing her or someone in judgement could
appear to be biased against motorcyclists,
whatever, $300 as a valuation of a young motorcyclist life is a fucking
    disgrace.
Not only to other motorcyclists, but to the general community.
Same Court, same magistrate, a car thief, who broke into three cars and
damaged all of them, couldn't get them started because he was probably too
    dumb,
gave him a 12 month good behaviour bond, stuff the three car owners who were
put to considerable trouble having to repair their cars and the
inconvenience of not having them while being repaired.
This magistrate has set his decisions in stone.

who apparently were taking their lives into their own hands by
    overtaking a turning vehicle...
Being the bottom of the legal food chain, his decision is set in
    playdoh, not stone.

  7. These two facts have everything to do with the case
She should not have been on the road in the first place with an unregistered
    vehicle

You must be a relative of either the magistrate or the idiot woman driver to
    come up with that statement
Then you need to go to the courts and sit in for a week, then listen
    carefully to decisions
The last line was a play on words and if you cant see the answer, then you
should not have replied in the first place

What is the penalty for that? Was she convicted and did she pay the
prescribed penalty? If so, what's your whinge?
So you can't argue the logic and have to resort to attacks? *ping*
    you lose.
If you ahve done that, then give us a list. Times, dates, sentences,
and a precis of the judgement.

You have the evidence, produce it.

You do know that you can become a magistrate yourself don't you?

Are you willing to perform this community service?

"Playdough" if it's the home-made variety. "Playdoh" is a brand name for mass-produced and marketed playdough.

  11. All you have done is prove that you are nothing but a fucking idiot
Where did I say the motorcyclist broke the law?
What other proof do you require when she turned in front of the motorcyclist
and he T-Boned the drivers door
One motorcycle had already passed her, she heard another motorcycle, but
didn't give it enough thought to look to see where the noise was coming
from, then she turned in front of the motorcycle which was in the process of
overtaking her because she had slowed down
The woman driver had already broken the law by driving an unroadworthy and
    unregistered car.
It makes no difference whether the car is hers or not,
a driver of the vehicle is responsible by making sure that the vehicle being
driven is registered and in a roadworthy condition before being driven on a
    public road.
You call her a "poor innocent lady", then you must live in the same feral
    neighbourhood.

  12. I ever see you broken down on the side of the road, or you have been hit by
    an errant car driver,
remind me of what you have just said so that I can leave you to your own
    devices

  13. May as well quit before you dig yourself a bigger fuckin' hole, you idiot,
and save the rest of us from reading your numbskull ramblings!

The fuckin' goose in question _overtook_ a car and fucked up! Got it? He
fucked up! Fucked up, I tell ya! Not only did he **** up, he broke the
fuckin' law and fucked up! He was in the fuckin' wrong and the cause of the
accident! The sheila in question was making a perfectly legitimate right
hand turn. She may have been in an unregistered car but was fined for that,
    her _only_ crime!

Now **** off and quit making an ignorant goose of yourself! May I suggest
you book yourself into Vic Roads for a fuckin' driving test!

This type of prang is so so common.
Motorcyclists just don't seem to ask themselves "why is this car
    slowing...."
I suppose she didn't indicate or she'd be blame free! (apsrt from the rego)

  19. Sorry Clem, but there are only two people who would know if she did indicate
    properly
one of them is dead, the other is as one previous critic named her, "a poor
    innocent lady"
so you don't have to be a rocket scientist to guess what story she would
    give

    "Pissy Pants Pete"
How do you know the rider broke the law, do you know the particular road,
    were you standing there watching?
    Nothing but a drunken ramblings......
