ogden () gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying
    :
When I did mine, they lent us jacket, gloves and lid.
Jeans and above-the-ankle boots were strongly recommended.

Take plentymuch air freshener for the lid.

Not many of them do this. When SeanH [1] did his CBT earlier on in
the year he was only provided with the helmet. The riding school
didn't seem interested in the lack of gloves so he was pootling about
on the A23 at nearly 60mph with no other protection.

[1] That's SeanH whose GPZ500S [2] threw a rod and was written off on
    the way home from BoSM.

[2] He's taking delivery of his brand spanking new black Bandit 650

  4. I was going to add "and a pipe", until I saw that the OP is a lady. But,
there again, on second thoughts, I mean to say, shouldn't be led by my
preconceptions, stay flexible, keep an open mind, takes all sorts ...

Wear stuff that is tough, close-fitting, warm, won't break your heart if
it's damaged *if* you drop the bike [1] and - above all - that you feel
comfortable in. There's enough new stuff to cope with during CBT, without
having to worry about clothing riding up or down, binding, snagging,
flapping or getting in the way. Footwear should deffernly be over the
ankle. Enjoy. This biking stuff just keeps on getting better and betterer.

    [1] You won't!

  5. I wore doc martins, blue jeans and a thick leather bomber jacket.

It would be ideal to buy good rainproof/crashproof kit before you pass
the test but it really isn't practical.

Well, i'd say anything that protects the ankle and ideally doesn't have
    dangly laces are ok.

I see people riding around in low cut trainers every day, and it makes
    me wince.

Someone quoted a while back (don't think it was Mr Varnsverry) :

Top tip : protect your ankles.

yes - loads of times - my R30 was particularly prone to it. Nothing
catastrophic ever came of it, mind.

Can't you tuck the laces into the laces? Or would that remove half the
    fun?

It's only fair to ask on UKRM, have you always been a lady?

And if it's not the laces, it's the bottom of a pair of cargo pants. One day
I WILL look a **** at the lights and it'll be when the wife's on the back of
    the bike too.

    I hope that was intentional.
So he can sweat his bollocks off in the first hour? A pal of mine came home
soaked in sweat after his CBT.
    Eeuww.
