What to look for?

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Keith Schiffner, May 15, 2005.

  1. On a DR370 besides the usual rat bike issues like
a bodged(poorly) front brake cable. Much less the
"custom" muffler that is about 12" of straight
pipe that exits in front of the left rear
shock...hey stop looking so shocked! I said it had
rat bike issues, I'm open to suggestions.

    It's a $50 bike...I'm not worried as I KNOW what
to look for in a farm bike. 8^) As expected the
usual "I got a welder" mentality...and the ever
popular "I use SAE bolt for my seats" stuff. No
real suprises maintinence wise...sprockets are in
    GREAT shape.
Timing chain is worn...it's a 2 hour job at worst.
Muffler? if needed I'll work something up.

NOW if you have some SPECIFIC information about
    Suzuki DR/SP 370 I'd appreciate it. I OWN the
bike...it doesn't burn oil and starts on the 3rd
or 4th kick. It's been no surprise going through
it so far, not even the swing arm bearings. The
MOST singularly expensive part is going to be the
timing chain, the swing arm bushings will be
    cheapest by far.
