What to do with the MZ....

    Currently, I don't use it.

It's not really up to 100 miles / day of commuting, so it's just sat in
    the garage doing nothing.

I could flog it, and get my money back.

    Or

    I could cafe racer it.

Over to you lot..... what d'you reckon?

  2. Flog it to lozzo's mate for 50 quid.

Slightly seriously - you could spend money making it into a cafe racer
etc, but apart from the fun you /might/ get from doing it there isn't
much gain is there? You'd probably still not use it after the initial
    excitement wore off (2 miles).

I'm surprised it's not up to the commuting - I thought it was in decent
mechanical nick - or is this another SteveH special thing like a VFR is
    only for wide roads?

Sell it and put the money towards something that you will use/enjoy.

    This is quite possibly true.
I've tried commuting on it a few times, but I soon got pissed off with
having the throttle nailed to the stop for a 20 mile stretch of A-road.
Was fun to start with, but I soon got bored of it.
I could do this, but I can't think of anything I'd do with the money
other than piss it up the wall.

  4. BTDTGTTS. It's completely true.
Fair enough - although it's good for the soul to learn how to adapt to
    different circumstances.
I'm sure you are not that shallow really...

Thing is, there's not a huge amount of traffic on my route to work, so
there's no advantage in using a bike to get there and back - especially
as the on the road time for the MZ is longer than in the car, and the
VFR costs loads more to run than a SOC.

Getting kitted up etc takes more time than I can save on the VFR, too,
    IYSWIM.
Heh. Seriously, though, if I flogged it, I'd only end up buying some
pointless techy toy type of thing.

Suppose I should convince myself to stick it in the traillie fund -
early Transalps are getting very cheap these days.

  18. Cue misty eyed reminiscence....
Quite a long time ago, I was a despatch rider in the days when the firm
provided the bikes and we crashed them. I think we had just finished off the
last of our GT250As and were given some GS400s as a reward. All went
reasonably well, apart from the occasional spectacular seizure on the
motorway when we forgot that a GS400 actually used more oil than a GT250.
Reasonably well, that is, until the workshop manager decided that he could
save shedloads of money by fitting SMIIs.This led to us all falling off (a
lot) just to prove how dangerous they were, until he got fed up with
repairing all the extra crash damage, and went back to Roadrunners. This let
us get back to trying to be the first one to wear through the downpipes,
which were the first thing to touch down - on the GTs we'd worn holes in the
    panniers..
....OK, I'm better now. Thanks for listening.
