After reading the thread I shall not add any credence to the perves by
looking at the link. I'm all for taking the piss but there's a limit,
and children are well outside that limit.

I know that I will probably be criticised for commenting whilst not
looking, but the same holds for the dreaded cartoons in Denmark.

Of course. My main concern is that the quality of production is
worthwhile. Bad lighting and sloppy production values ruin many an
otherwise decent film.

Well, let's look at the history of moving image censorship in the UK.
Back at the beginning of the 80s literally dozens upon dozens of films
were banned over night thanks to the raving Christian fuckwits lead by
Mary Whitehouse (although let's not forget Chief Inspector Anderton,
from the GMP, who told the world that he actually spoke directly to
God). It was stated as fact that these films would corrupt, we're
absolutely evil, depicted real murder and promoted a complete lack of
morality.

If we ignore the simple truth that 99.9% of horror films at the time
relied on morality clichés (it's always the 'slut', the people shagging
outside marriage, the bully etc. etc. who die - and the black bloke,
too, obviously.), the films targeted did not come even close to
resembling the bile spewed at them. But then, Mary Whitehouse and her
scum friends openly admitted to having never seen the films they wanted
banned.

A few good examples would be:

Snuff - banned for showing real murders. In fact, it was an ultra-cheap
forerunner of the Blair Witch Project, which anyone who'd actually seen
it knew.

The Exorcist - banned/campaigned against for being blasphemous and
promoting evil. Of course, the reality is it's a story about God beating
evil and was actually written in part by Jesuit priests from Georgetown
who then appeared in the film playing priests.

Driller Killer - banned for extreme violence. Even then the violence was
appallingly done and utterly unbelievable.

Of course, there are numerous modern examples, too, such as South Park -
The Movie.

But what the Hell. People said they should be banned, so without having
the slightest idea what the truth really was, the moral retards
campaigned for a ban without ever seeing a single frame of footage.

Just because someone says it's something, it doesn't mean a damn thing.

Absolutely.

There are some things in life we can take a stand on without having to
experience them. Each individual has the right to select their own
issues usually driven by stereotypical structures, and although I
dislike stereotypes, without them we would have no basic sign posts in
life. I hope I am able to confront my stereotypes and prejudices but as
I stated earlier I will not add credence to what appears to me to be
abusive.

What is more I found some of the previous postings quite persuasive, so
hey ho that was my two pennies worth.
