That's what I was thinkin', the dollar and it's miserable conversion to Euro's these days. Airfare and freight are one thing and certainly would be expensive on their own, but I would think leasing a work shop, a few "flats," and living costs, is gonna' take more than just a "pinch" out of any budget. So, at first glance and just from the conversion aspect this probably isn't the greatest time for an initial venture abroad, though it would be interesting to see what they could do, not to mention who might ride for them.. Yes he did and it looked like he was givin' those Erion Boy's just about all they could handle too, that is, right up to the part where his engine quit. Btw, I never heard for certain, did he actually run out of fuel, or was it a pump, or electro's? It looked like maybe one of the Honda's ran out, blew, or quit on the out lap too, curious, huh? I wouldn't think that at that altitude and duration fuel use would ever be a problem, you think they ran lite to save weight because of the HP loss at a mile up? If so, ballsy move, and close too, but no cigar.. Heh heh, most likely by design too.. I suppose that's prolly just part of the deal out there, but then again, no matter if it's the humidity at Road Atlanta, or T'storms at M/O, it's always somethin'. That said, I've been "right down the road" at the Salt Flats and whatever I thought it would be, it was *NOT*. I ended up in a bathtub full of vinegar with the absolute worst sunburn/poisoning I've ever had, and this is comin' from a dude that grew up *ON* the beach in Florida! It was like standing on a f'ing mirror, or spending the day at the Taj Mahal there was sooo much reflected sunlight, and not seeing much shade at Miller on TV I was just wondering if that might be a problem there too.. Hmm, maybe ESPN2 in HD? Now we're talking!! Most all of the transponder times are on open wi-fi at tracks,(though sometimes you might have to trik 'um to use their LAN outbound;-) DIS and Barber are really good, Road Atl, M/O and R/A aren't bad around the pits, but IIRC pretty much sux anywhere else and ISTR VIR is good just about everywhere too, but you're dead on, they need to get on top of the web/text things from the get-go and I'd be kinda' surprised if they don't, especially now that they've said their gonna do a big Superpole type thing, so we'll see.. No titty bars, tattoo, or piercing parlors yet? Damn! (oh that's right, it's in Utah;-) Be careful about saying it's hard to spend money, or next year it might cost to take a leak. Heh, the last thing any promotor wants to hear is that somebody actually went home with money! That's what I like to hear, a good lay-out with decent in/out, as I'm sure you know it's not too much fun being burnt out from an all day track deal then having to walk to the back forty to your car just to be stuck in traffic and I think that's a problem at a few tracks and one thing it will be interesting to see if DMG has any influence with, I don't know about anyone else, but when the music's starts to fade, I wanna be somewhere else! The memory of a good race shouldn't be diminished by sitting in traffic for two hours when it's over. Me? I'm lookin' for a shower, (few more;-) cold beers, decent chow and a spot to kick back in that order about as quick as I can get 'um, that, sad to say, is one of the reasons why I've duffed the last parts of SB races lately, as it just wasn't worth the extra two hours to see Yosh bitch slap the field again, but that's just me, BTDT and I know how that movie ends.. Heh, I'd imagine that would be one hell of a walk, in the desert no less, but hey, it's a dry heat... ;-)
Yeah, me too, but what I still don't understand is why, unless you're drag racing put all the fuel you can onboard. Heh, I've never heard anyone say they could've won if they had a little less fuel, but I'm pretty certain there are/were times when they wished they had just a little more.. The whole dyno thing rubs me the wrong way, but we'll see. What some haven't realized yet is who the 185hp cap in Litre really hurts and who it will help.. From what I understand Speed does some/most of it's race stuff in HD, but Brighthouse doesn't offer it, at least not where I live anyway.. Really? That's kinda' strange, but TBH I've never been able to understand much of what's said on a PA, even at some DT's too, though most AM deals are usually decent.. I found them by chance a while back when they opened up the campground at DIS and it worked out pretty good for me when I was a little less mobile, but these days I try not to hang in the Flagrooms all the time and it's a pain haulin' a laptop around, so lately I pretty much just leave it in the trunk.. Ya' know, it's amazing how fast they empty those parking lots at Disney or Seaworld and yeah, I know I-4's right there, but it's just incredible how quick those guys can move a hundred thousand people and when the D500 empties, it's bumper to bumper on I-4 from Daytona to Sanford going west, to St. Augustine north on 95 and Cocoa to the South, but from what I'm told, they empty out the track pretty damn fast.. Heh, they'd find my bleached bones about half-way around.. Well, that seals it for me...
A little rocket on a thin stick you put in a bottle to aim/shoot. Heh, handy little fukrz to scare folks with too and make a great way to "kill" time and burn your friends after a few beers. Oh yeah, did I mention they explode after going a couple hundred feet? Great stuff, we but 'um buy the gross!
T3 expains, With a single firecracker on the end. Goes "swoosh" for a hundred feet straight up then POP. Or if you hold it gently and light it, you can aim it at other idjits. Best story - The Dude is in his GMC Big White Van on the way to Grattan, as are my team in another van. About 2:30 in the morning on I-80 Friday night he sees us up ahead and grabs a bag of bottle rockets. He gets next to us, grins his stupid grin as he turns on his interior light so we can see him. After everybody wakes up and is looking at him, he gets us to open our window to talk, he lifts from out of sight a single bottle rocket and lights it. Too bad his window was closed. Go fast. Take chances. Mike S.
