''What is the deal'' with the threads?-----ie.

    ----fullstate wonders why?---
    Why are there multiple threads for the same freaking subject with little
    appendages to them (like --xx-- or whatever) ??? It's making it
    difficult to read thru them.

    ---brian walker offers an opinion----
    -----.
    Don't know....I just got tired of trying to play catch up with all these
    and their postings....
    I ended up hitting "catch up" and solving the problem.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    bjay here----
    ''xx'' marks the spot.
    I confess, I mark my responses with some kinda symbol, that could, be,
    referred to as an ''appendage''!!. ----- I find it easier for me and
    ''it'', to find stuff down the 100's of responses! I set this ''thing''
    and it finds the marked symbols, it helps me.
    <>
    Fullstate, I find it hard to believe it puts a ''strain'' of any kind,
    on your computer to ''read'' down the numerous responses.
    <>
    I can believe, though, that it might irritate you, in some manner.
    <>
    But I see no difference, of me installing a simple ''xx'', than others
    typing IN an additional phrase in the ''post subject area.''
    Surely, you've, noticed. (grin)
  6. Most likely your threads are stripped. This is often caused by
    using a metric newsreader on SAE threads or vice-versa.
    Hope this helps.
    from the guys in tx.moto, an idea occurred to me. Maybe we should
    cross-post every one of Henry, Phyloe, Moto and Piddy's gems that come
    Hmmm. Maybe add Dem's too. All the cream off the top. ;)
  13. I'll accept that you're new to usenet and probably just don't know, so
    take this advice. Cross-posting is not normally good form.
    If you have such an insatiable need to reach as wide an audience as
    possible and want to be engaged in a friendly manner:
    1. Post to one news group at a time.
    2. Stop tacking on that stupid "xox" shit to the end of the subject
    lines on your posts, as that causes each of your innane contributions
    to show up as a stand-alone thread in certain news readers (i.e. it
    may be convenient for you, but it's a disservice to others)
    Bjay, the "appendages" are annoying to all. Changing the headers is like
    driving on the left side of the road. The longer you keep it up, the
    smaller the usnet will get for you, as more people ignore your posts. If you
    want to be rude, that's part of reeky, go ahead, but being a mere pest is
    ignoble.
    complained about crossPosting, during the OnGoing, & continual ''F-War''
    threads that were crossPosted time and time again. Of which, I didn't
    participate.
    MAINLY, cuz it was boring, and abnoxious.
    --Here, I crossPosted a couple of interesting actual, literal topics
    about
    Motocycles----kinda odd!!
    ---I don't know if you read my Intr, sometime ago to your favoriteNG,
    --Now. all of a sudden, you notice something about me, and you chose to
    BJayKana, Apr 29, 2005
  17. BJ, it's not so much the cross posting is the current complaint as it is
    taking the topic line and changing it to suit yourself. that changes it
    for everyone else too. the ones who do that are generally posters who
    are trying to get by the ignored threads and ignored posters filters
    others may be using (hansteen and moto as examples); consequently, it is
    considered very annoying and a breach of usenet prototcol. if you were
    ignoring the flame wars, and someone kept changing the topic so it kept
    showing up on your reader, you would find that annoying; this is the
    same thing. I know you were doing it to try and keep track of the
    thread, but the effect on everyone else est no bueno, señor. please
    don't do it.
    i'm not knocking it, but simply pointing out another "feature" of your
    WTV and how it affects the newgroups. your efforts on quoting have
    been appreciated and this is a request along those same lines. grassy
    ass.
  18. Heh, heh, heh. Go ahead and play your little games, trying to dig up
    stuff on people and making up your baseless allegations, Brian. Since
    you do it to so many people, it's plainly obvious that you have a
    psychological problem, so keep on proving it.
    Everyone now knows that the folks in rec.moto beat you and your Dad at
    your own game when we dug up the old man's past criminal record and
    posted the documents for everyone to see. That was perfect.
    Our job is now done and we're just watching the two of you twist on
    your own petards, frothing at the mouth. Couldn't have been a better
    conclusion.
    Keep up Showboat.. You didn't dig up anything.. Sheesh.. I've been telling
    you for a long time that you don't know who you are fucking with .. Next
    time you commence to burn someone's house or brag about "killin' a man in a
    fist fight".. you might want to check 'em out a little better.. huh ?
    The evil grinning and reloading shit can get your cowardly ass in a lot of
    trouble .. I love it..
    You might want to consider that I was successfully dealing with wannbe
    bullies like you before you were born.. Still do..
    You might want to consider furthur, your clown that posted that newsbreaking
    and anonymous piece of news, couldn't be dragged within a city block of this
    "old man".. Frick and Frack, as I call them.. have been trying that trash on
    me for years.. Hasn't worked yet, and won't work again.. Try again..
