See you on the 15th, if you can manage to drag your lardass out in this
Texas heat.. LOL... Course..you fat boys aren't notorious for doing what
you say.. For example that fat bastard from Herndon, Virginia has sure
gotten scarce since he backed out on all those riding circles around me and
the riding lessons.. Ya'll do a lot of screaming on usenet and stuff, but
you are sure timid when it comes to making good on it, aren't you ?

Bill? Just because there were no electrical engineers or computer
scientists in the Village People doesn't mean that they don't exist.

I think I've spelled it correctly the vast majority of the time. I
*also* sometimes type out a thought and leave out *whole words*. That's
really embarrassing. It's not as embarrassing as typing out a post and
leaving out *whole thoughts*, though. So while I apologize for my
error, I can't begin to imagine how badly you feel most of the time.

    Mr. Donkey? Meet Mr. Crow.

You're completely wrong, Brian. It was originally a kernel hack *on a
Unix system* and then folded into the main BSD distribution. Read
Mike's page - most of it is still available for you to try to obtain a
clue from. Read it over and over. Ping's first implementation was done
by Mike on a *Unix* system.
    No thanks.
Ugh. Here we go again. ICMP is not TCP.

Your problems configuring your routers and firewalls are completely
independent of the fact that ICMP is not TCP. They may indicate more
fundamental conceptual problems on your part, though.

Here we go again. The usual walker "twist it until you can argue with
it" stunt. I never said I invented ping. I said I worked at ARL. I
also said you have no clue what you're talking about with respect to
ping, but that won't stop you. Lastly, I don't think ping is rocket
science. So to take my superior knowledge of ping and use that to form
a straw man argument that I've claimed to invent the Atlas rocket is
absurd. In other words, here we go again. Twist it until you can argue
    with it, idiot.

those pus gutted buddies of yours take off while I'm kicking the shit out of
you... hmmm... Tell me again, how my son neglected my grand daughter and
caused her death, you useless bastard..

himself.. All this silly bullshit that him and Albert Nurick has come up
with is hot air.. ROTFL. Both these tub of guts are just blowing smoke at
you.. Who gives a shit about a "ping" other than some witless pukes like
them.?? We'll see 'em both on the 15th.. if Rectum don't totally piss
himself to death and Nurick can ride that far..

See you on the 15th, Rectum.. Now.. go piss yourself in private.. shouldn't

    tx.motorcycles..

He was a good one. I especially liked his self-deprecating remarks
about the invention of traceroute by, I don't remember who. I thought
that story was really funny. What really made him tick was a deep
understanding and love of computer architecture. If not for Gordon
Moore, Mike surely would have stumbled on an estimation for the
    exponential rate of computer advancement.

I've seen a lot of the real pioneers in the community at USENIX over the
years. It really is an awesome experience to be in the same room as
these folks. Many are now at the age that they are achieving the USENIX
lifetime achievement award, otherwise known as "The Flame" (how
appropriate). In receiving their awards, they've had some very
    worthwhile things to say.

Some recent speakers I've seen and enjoyed have included James Gosling,
Neal Stephenson, Bruce Schneier, and perhaps most, Lawrence Lessig.

I appreciate the offer, Albert. I think I'm about done. Think of the
childr^h^h^h^h^h^ crows. I'm going to unplug.

Several of my friends have patents for various things. They are not won
    easily. Congratulations on yours.

I'm just about ping'd out. On another note, what's the tranny status?

Me, too, Gary. I regret my involvement. You have my apologies.

I've got great news and not so great news on the tranny front. The
great news is that Yamaha is going to cover it. The not so great news
is that it's going to cost Yamaha $2500 to do it. They are covering it
as a "goodwill" repair. The implication there is that they feel there
were no defects in the bike when it left their hands. Rather, something
happened "post delivery" that caused the problems. To keep me as a
customer, they're covering it. If that's really the way they feel,
that's mighty big of Yamaha. Of course, the implication is that I did
something wrong to the bike, with which I'd strongly disagree. I've put
many thousands of miles on many other bikes and not ever had a similar
    issue.

They say the parts may be in as early as tomorrow, and it will take 15
hours of shop time to fix it. They are really trying hard to have it
back to me by the 13th, but they aren't making any promises.

So I spent the weekend wrenching on the little bike. It had an annoying
bog at full lock in a left turn that I traced to a binding choke cable
under the gas tank. I topped off the battery with distilled water. I
flushed, filled, and bled the brakes and the clutch. The tires are
virtually new Pirellis. I've got one last oil change to do before I
leave and it'll be good to go.

I'd really rather take the FJR, but the little bike can make the trip
just fine. My only concern is running an air-cooled engine through
Texas in the middle of summer. The bike has run just great in 90 degree
weather around here. I'm hoping that's a good indication it will do
    alright down there.

    Thanks for asking.
