That warrants a dog turd through the letter box, that does.

Thus spake Roger Hunt () unto the assembled multitudes:
Given that said incident took place in 1976, that's a bit of a missed
opportunity. Anyways, I've got over it and moved on ;-)

Actually, wasn't the Evo engine the first unit Harley lump?

As an aside, technically modern Guzzis have pre-unit engines, as do
    most BMWs.

Summer of '76 was when I discovered that sweating through leather
is preferable to gravel-rash on the back of hands, fingers, elbow
and various other body parts, and a dislocated thumb. :)
Good ... moved on to petrol bombs do you mean?

1948 DKW-based 125S. If you want an actual Hardley, 1952 K model, ancestor
    of the Sprotstre.
And other modern production bikes, such as Enfields, Urals, Chang Jiangs...

  6. And yet they managed to keep going backwards. Why on earth did they do
that, I wonder? I suppose it was too modern for the Hurley owners of the
day, moaning and blowing smoke into their beer.

Ah. Someone once gave me a book about Harleys and their history. I'll
have to dig it out and actaully read it.

Harrumph. Comparing that load of rattly aircooled push-rod heaps to
    the modern Guzzi.

Where and who was it? I live off Portland Road.

Thus spake sweller () unto the assembled multitudes:
I lived in Vale Road, Portslade at the time. I don't recall exactly where
Imola 500 was, and haven't been in that area for *years*, but it was
somewhere on the border between Portslade and Fishersgate I think. Possibly
Church Road or thereabouts? Memory dims a bit after 30 years ;-)
