Jesus vs The Beyonder ... it's got to be a close call.

I was actually wondering last night, if the spies from "Spooks" took on the
con-artists from "Hustle" who would win.

  4. OK so far..
    False assumptions:

That Gods way of eliminating pain happens here and now.
That all pain is wrong - sometimes pain is useful[1].
That we are wrapped in cotton wool. We are not. We have to be prepared
to accept the consequences of our actions
That God loves us will be shown by us having pain-free, care-free
    lives.

It is actually a very persuasive argument on one level - the same
argument that says "surely the fact that bad people thrive means God
    doesn't care".

They both ignore the fact that God doesn't see things from our
viewpoint - he has never promised that his people would live trouble
and pain free lives now - if fact usually the opposite (from
persecution, animal attack, illness etc etc).

The same argument is also used in the reverse - The US will claim that
they are 'Gods nation' because they are so materially successful. And
that suffers from the same flaw.

    Phil.

[1] For example a child will learn that hot things are painful. In the
same way as we learn that human life can be painful - by experiencing
    the pain.

    nailed on a cross.

It's called 'greatest good for the greatest number' I believe (in
    simplistic terms)

What act gave you the bad shoulder, then?

And why are you trying to treat it? As a consequence, shouldn't you
    just live with it?

That interpretation makes a lot of sense. What doesn't make any sense to me
is that allegedly He made His program clear 2000 odd years ago and we've
heard **** all about it since then. (Cue Jesus Christ Superstar lyrics)

    as much
Vioxx (rofecoxib). I got 2 months supply only to find out when I got home
that the manufacturer had announced it was taking it off the market earlier
    that day. :-(
They are more expensive than ibuprofen. I don't think they are as effective
    as diclofenac.

I had Vioxx once - I became a zombie, had to take the day off work as
my head was so muddled. I stopped taking it and went back to
    diclofenac.
