I had a spot of that a few months back, bloody excrutiating pain every time
    I moved.

Doctor could do nothing other than advise to not move about and take
    painkillers.

    They all do that.
They cure is simple and consists of two parts:
    Don't raise your arm;
    Wait six months.

I dunno, just going by what my GP said. She didn't know I had a morphine
allergy when she prescribed them but raised an eyebrow when she heard I
did and said they would have that effect given my allergy. She told me
    to stop taking them.

Lozzo secured a place in history by writing:
Voltarol is an anti-inflammatory, not a painkiller. And IMO it rocks, or
at least it did when I couldn't, having knackered my back badly earlier
    this year.

I was taking tham as an anti-inflammatory, I had a bad swelling of the
lining of my skull which was threatening to push down on my brain.

I've got a long-running problem with trapped nerves in my neck. It
usually manifests itself as numbness or tingling in my hands.

AIUI the technical name for this is 'referred pain', ie the problem is
where a nerve emerges from the spine, but it's experienced as if it were
in the place that nerve serves. My osteopath asked if the pain was in
the back or the front of my hands, and from that immediatley knew the
problem was likely to involve the N and N+1 vertebrae.

FWIW, the severity varies a lot depending on my use of an ordinary
keyboard or a Microsoft Natural keyboard. YMMV.

If what you have is indeed a trapped nerve, it sounds like you (and
quite a few other people) have it a lot worse than me.

That's weird. It sounds exactly like CTS and nothing like a trapped nerve.

  14. Sounds like frozen shoulder. You need to get it manipulated..
It won't do much good except to hide the damage you are doing...

  17. Which will rapidly extend the damage until you can't move it at all..
Um - ignoring joint pain is usually not a good idea. It *might* get
better but more likely it will either carry on or get worse..

  18. Frozen shoulder covers a lot of things. The shoulder is one of the more
complex joints in the body and if it is damamged the ligaments and
tendons have tendancy to try to immobilise the joint to prevent further
    damage..
Mine was cured by several sessions at the osteopath (make sure he/she
is a proper one!) and changing the way I sat at work..

It's not got worse, it's got "different" the whole shoulder seems to
click more, but the pain isn't stabby now. I think I may have just
pulled something as it only happens if I make a rowing kind of movement,
    not a pushing movement.

    FFS, it's only a shoulder. :)
