    Indeed! :)

Especially when you consider that it was a non-runner at the time and needed
a top end rebuild too! It's still buried in her garage now, 12 years after I
    left :)

A combination of money and not being competitive enough. I enjoyed
it, for sure, but was about half way down the field.
Well, you feel you *have* to, really.
    It was only a scrote.

  4. Yeah - whatever...
    Fucking hell.
How on earth did you find time to eat? You must hold some sort of
record at DVLA for appearing on the most V5's at some point or other.

    Respect.

    happened to that

    out
Raleigh Racer of some sort, grew out of it
    Canondale R500, still owned

seized so sold it as a box of spares with bent forks for 800 quid.
1992 GSXR750WN, owned 5 years, crashed twice, blew up engine on M25
racing a Porsche, replaced with 2nd hand motor, eventually sold to
Alfs M/Cycles in worthing for 2 grand.
1999 ZX6-R G1, owned for 2 years, bought it for the missus, didnt
    crash it, part-exed for a c*r.
1998 CBR600FW ex Phil Borley Race bike, owned 1 year for my rookie
racing season, amazingly never crashed it, sold it.
1998 CBR600FW Sanyo Honda Britain Race bike, owned for 4 months when
race bike #1 went wrong, crashed once, sold it.

wins, crashed 3 times, sold it.
1998 YZF-R1, owned from new for nearly 6 years, 97k miles, crashed 3
    times, stolen.
1998 YZF-R1, owned for 16 days, minter, stolen.
1997 GSXR600 SRAD Current bike bought off a mate, cheap n cheerful.

In this case, yes. I was at the end of my schoolboy 'career'. It's a
*huge* jump up to senior level[1]. Combine that with lack of parental
    sposorship, and Bob's your uncle.

[1] That said, Dave Thorpe was in our club and he was a world apart
from us already. He did OK at senior level ;-).

I came across an envelope containing an awful lot of logbooks, mainly
cars of a certain vintage, mostly in my name. I really must get round to
    dealing with it.

On the subject of logbooks, how long does it normally take for DVLA to
process a "previous keeper did not give me the V5" request?

    From 1979-ish:
Yamaha DT125: Might be a CT125. Or maybe originally a 175. First ever
bike, now rotting in the garden. One day I'll rebuild it. Or sell it.

CZ 250 Twin. Yeah, yeah, I know! First bike I actually used on the
road. First RTA: taken out by a Range Rover, which left me on crutches
    for 8 weeks.

Yamaha XS750: Big and, er, big. Sounded nice and taught me a lot, an
awful lot, about bike mechanics. Sold it when the clutch cable broke
    once too often.

Yamaha RD250LC. Bought as a racer. Two seasons as a backmarker then
put it back on the road. Fell off it twice: both times were in the
first lap of practice at Brands.

Yamaha RS100: Bought off a mate, fixed it up and sold it within a few
    months.

Honda CB250RSA: Great (if slow) commuter, even went on a camping
holiday to Loch Lomond on it.

BMWK100RS: Lovely bike if a bit buzzy. Only dropped it once but that
was heartbreaking! Sold it due to severe lack of cash at the time.

Honda CX500EC: paid about twice what it was worth because it was a
heap. I regret selling it, though.

Yamaha XT600Z: Different and fun but fucking *awful* for DIY servicing
and general maintenance access considering that it was a single and
    especially after the CX.

Honda CBR600 Jellymould. One of the early ones. Very competent,
reliable, smooth, good power for its age but just lacked something.

Moto Guzzi Quota: Big, black and beautiful. Turns heads. Not fast or
especially good handling but who cares. Dropped it at less than
fifteen MPH and broke my collarbone in the process.

Yamaha YZ250 (1985) Relatively gentle power delivery (suspicious but
never bothered to look into it). Had a couple of low-speed offs. Great
    fun!

FZR600 Genesis. Huge fun! Confidence inspiring handling. First KD,
first fairing down (and stayed on it!), first real highside. Hobbled
    for weeks afterwards.

Yamaha YZ250 (1998): Immense power hike from previous 'crosser.
Intimidating at first, but Huuuge fun. The last off unfortunately put
paid to my hopes of running the Marathon this year. Ah well.

Suzuki TL1000R: The Booming Banana when the ART cans are fitted.
Sounds a bit flat with the stock cans but I'll happily live with that.
Huge power compared to anything else I've ridden, stable but a tad
heavy at low speed. Difficult to stay anywhere near legal speeds.
    Looking forward to Summer!

    In
KMX 125, kept falling off, about 2 months
Vespa 90, rode it about 3 times, owned for about 3 days, never fell off, but
broke the gear cable thing and swapped it for a tape deck
CX 500, 2 weeks, about 400 miles. Didn't have a heater or cd player. *Hated*
    it

Now you know why I don't play with bikes.
