If I'm on the quad I ride by the letterbox as well. My excuse is my
round trip to the letterbox is close to 200 metres.
    Yes please.

I have another son but he doesn't have a bike. Got as far as his L's
but never went for the test. He now drives a Mercedes, his wife drives
    another Mercedes. Oh, the shame.

Either an '80s Yamaha XJ or a Triumph Sprint... it's been that way now for
almost 25 years with only a brief interruption for a VX800 and two BeeEms
('though none of them for much more than a year).

I'm like a stuck record; when I cark it my coffin will probably be
    transported between the two!

Even Achilles had an... err... achilles heel. These days I keep a
spare 650 tank in the shed to use while the 900 tanks are re-sealed.
It'll probably get a run again shortly...

    [gasp] A SHAFT!!
[throws his arms up and leaps into the air doing the Snoopy happy-dance] A
    shaft, a shaft, a shaft, a shaft!
Ahhh; you know how to make a man happy Moike.

PS. I notice in AMCN that Sprint ST1050s are $15k. That's the same price I
paid in 1995 for my green 900 and it comes with free panniers (and, I
    assume, on-road costs).

    Re your PS:
New Sprint ST down here is 15.9K rieaway with panniers & no ABS but it's
    09.

The new Sprint GT for a smidge under 18K looks like it'll be interesting
too, but it's still got a chain...
